I explained the situation with your customer rep about my mat was shredding, the store where I purchased it is no longer in business and I could not find my receipt. She said to send some pictures to us for review. Shorty after I received an email that my mat would be replaced and to be shipped out soon. I was totally amazed when I received your news. Thank you for standing behind your product!
I bought this mat a month ago and on the first day noticed that there was a huge air bubble at the top and bottom where my hands and feet were during down dog. I emailed the customer service and they were very prompt to give me a new mat after I sent photos of the bubble. I just got the new mat in the mail and it doesn't seem to have the air bubble that my old one did. I haven't used it yet but I think this new batch of mats fixed the air bubble layer separation problem. Other than that, the grip on the mat is amazing and was definitely an upgrade from my old mat. I'm hoping this new one has no problems but even if it did, customer service was very nice to replace it. Thank goodness for Lifetime warranty!
I bought this mat about a year ago through this website and I absolutely loved practicing yoga on this mat until the surface of the mat, especially where I put my hands and feet started to crumble. The crumbles stick to my body everytime I use the mat and it is so gross. I am so disappointed. I recommend this mat to all my yogi friends and now I feel shame for myself.
I've been using this mat for several weeks, and I absolutely love it! When I first received it, it barely had an odor. I still let it lay out for a few days, and now I don't smell anything at all. I'm a very bony person, and with the 5mm i can actually use my knees without it being painful. I typically slide around like crazy on mats, but I haven't slide a single time on this. Love it and highly recommend!
I have always had a problem with previous matts - finding myself off the matt a portion of the class and now I never run out of matt space. The other issue that I have had in the past is that my ankles hurt from the hard floor - not a problem anymore.
I bought this around a month ago. I was so excited to know that there were yoga mats for tall people! The frustration of having to modify and reset my poses based on where I was on the mat was no longer an issue. After a few uses, I am considering returning it. It's become slippery with the slightest hint of wetness on my feet and when I start sweating in general. I've had my previous Gaiam yoga mat for over 10 years and I still don't have that issue. I just wanted an upgrade for comfort on this tall frame.
I loved this mat when I first received it, but within a few months the top coat started to come off where I place my hands and feet. IIt results with black grit all over my hands and feet. There are also spots where the top coat is separating from the mat. Ive stopped using it completely and had to purchase another mat. Not worth the money in my opinion.
I have 2 of these mats, both are defective after less than a year of use. The first one I had bubbled up and started separating. Gaiam stood by their word and replaced, but now the second one is defective. Like other reviewers, I leave class with purple residue all over me and the once grippy mat is now incredibly sticky. Super bummed, as it's a great product for the first couple months of use!
I've never written a negative review and am usually skeptical of negative reviews, however I was so disappointed in this product that I had to leave a review. I received my mat three days ago and used it once and the pattern and mat got discolored. I did not use any chemicals or anything so there is no reason for the discoloration. I am returning the mat because if this is what happens after one use, I can not imagine what will happen after a few more uses. I'm upset that I even have to pay for the return shipping when the return reason is that this product was so poorly made. I do not recommend this product.
I have practiced yoga for over 20 years and am a self proclaimed 'mat junkie'. Over the years, I have tried them all...Jade, Manduka, Hugger-Mugger, Prana, Lululemon, you name it. I have felt a bit like Goldilocks in that every mat had some quality that made it less than perfect. One was too slippery, another was to thin, one stretched too much, another was too short...you get the picture. So when I tried the Gaiam Sol dry-grip, I was expecting it to be just like the others- good in some ways and less than perfect in others. But so far, I have to say, this mat may be perfect. It has very comfortable dimensions, is soft, gentle on the knees, sticky enough that you don't slip but easy enough to transition between poses without getting stuck. If you're indecisive, just try it. It may be your best mat ever!
