Gain is the only detergent I use now. Used Cold Tide for years because I knew it was formulated for cold water. Then my mom gave me a bottle of Gain and I washed it with cold water and my clothes still got clean but now they were soft and smelled wonderful! I also learned to use the marks on the cup, and not to use a whole capful like I'd done for years. Bonus, Gain is even cheaper than Tide!.

There might be better detergents for removing dirt or grease, but I am a long-time Gain user because of the smell. It works equally well for men, women, and kids. Gain gets out odors and rinses well. The jug fits conveniently in the cabinet over the washing machine, so it's easy to measure detergent without having to lift a heavy container.
