I really like these plates and bowls especially when entertaining guests. They are lite weight, microwave safe and washes very well in dish water. I served my main dishes and salad while serving a Sunday dinner to my family. With everything at hand I didn't have to go back into the kitchen. Even after I use these daily instead of my good dinner plates and bowels.
Surprisingly sturdy and actually beautiful. When I first saw the set I thought it was ceramic. Imagine my surprise when I found out it's plastic. These are perfect for outside dining. Have put them in the dishwasher several times and they continue to look brand new.
I just love these plates and bowls I received. Not only did I get my favorite color - Red with strips, but I gave away the plates I have had for over 20 years. This set is durable, and smaller in the middle for food, but they do clean well in the dishwasher. I did notice a warning to not microwave the plates or bowls. So just be aware if you do purchase them to use.
The Gap Home - Flowing Watercolors 8-Piece Melamine Dinnerware Set is great for a quick meal in front of the TV or outside on the patio table. The melamine is light weight and easy to clean. I chose the red, which is much more colorful than my normal dinnerware. It comes with four large dinner plates and four deep bowls. The bowls would be great for salad, fruit or ice cream. The plates are large enough to load it with a burger, hotdog, beans and chips.
This Gap dinnerware set turned out a lot nicer than anything we expected. My perception of Melamine dinnerware was that it was thin and cheap stuff about two steps above disposable dinnerware - and usually assigned as small "kids" plates. This Flowing Watercolors set from Gap is not only stylish, but it is leaps and bounds above the old plates and cups we used to have. The Gap set is heavyweight and a lot larger than an old kid's plate. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but the plates are a full dinner size and the bowl is very large for a soup or salad bowl. If you are planning on using the set like we are for outdoor meals, you will like how deep the plate is. The is little chance of you spilling anything our of the plate as deep as it is. If there is one small negative about the product it is that you need to hand wash the dishes. I suspect that repeated use of a high temperature dishwasher will degrade the nice waterfall colors. Overall this is a great set.
This is the Gap Home Flowing Watercolors 8-Piece Yellow Melamine Dinnerware Set A service for 4 in a very eye catching color combination of gradient white to yellow. These plates are quite an attractive set, they are dishwasher safe - top rack only. And cannot be used in the microwave. These would be really great for every day use.
I live alone, so an 8-piece dinnerware set is okay for me. I saw the red color and thought it looked something akin to watermelon color and decided to give it a try. When I got the set, I noticed the color was pleasing. I already like Melamine because it is lightweight (I'm 68 and don't want to use stoneware anymore because it is too heavy), and it can go into my dishwasher. I also like the design that, as advertised, seems to flow like watercolors. The plates and bowl are good sized. It is thinner than other Melamine I own, but it does not present a problem. As always though, the one drawback of Melamine is you cannot put it in the microwave, but that is a small inconvenience. I just microwave my dinner/meal in something else and transfer it to the Melamine. Overall, I like the dinnerware. I like the color. I like that it's not heavy. If you're a microwave junkie that must microwave a meal on your plate, you might look elsewhere; otherwise, this would be a good buy.
This set of four plates and bowls is a very good looking set. It appears to look like Stoneware and a beautiful color of yellow and white. The plates are large and the bowls are large as well. Bowls can be used for soup, desserts, cereal or salad. There are many great summertime colors that can be used for all occasions. I love that the plates are large enough to put extra large ribs, hamburgers and hot dogs on with other food side choices. I also recommend using for small Weddings on a low budget. They would look very nice next to Crystal Stemware and Gold colored Dinner Forks, Knives and Spoons with yellow and white flowers as your choice.
I opened the box and thought ‘summer is here'! Four place setting in a bright yellow color. The plates are the regular sized 9 inch dinner ware and bowls are bigger than a cereal bowl- perfect for salads. This is melamine plastic but looks like china. They are lightweight and don't break - perfect for outdoor meals or any occasion.
These look very nice and seem very durable BUT I do not care for "Melamine" Dinnerware for the everyday dishes, especially with kids who pay no attention to what they put in a microwave. You absolutely can not microwave these which can be an inconvenience when you are constantly serving meals at different times. Also, the size of the bowls included are HUGE and I'm not sure what or how these even fit into a place setting. I would have to say the bowls are more practical as "serving" dishes for like a BIG bowl of mashed potatoes, or vegetables serving a family of 4 given how large these bowls are! Bowls are NOT practical at all. What were they thinking when making this "set"? The color is more pinkish than red blended with white, and the dishes have a really shiny finish/surface. I've dropped them already (I am a clutz) and there was not so much as a tiny scratch so that is a plus! The entire set is dishwasher safe (that is an absolute must) and each plate is a meal-sized portion size (not too large, not too small)! I think I will use these for the summer on my patio! Definitely not practical for a family's everyday use..just more for a decorative, casual, occasional use.
