I have been a vegetarian since 1980 and have tried almost every Burger out there and the Gardein Burgers are by far the best! I have had my non-vegetarian friends try them, and they we're surprised at how tasty and juicy they are! I'm so glad I decided to try them.
Thank you Gardein for making this without canola oil. This is the only brand I've found in my town that uses coconut oil, so thankful to be able to avoid seed oils!
Bought this 1 week ago. Pleasantly surprised. The burger didn't shrink and was juicy and the texture was very close to a beef burger. I found the price a bit more than I liked for 2 burgers though
I should have checked the saturated fat. My goal is to limit saturated fat to lower my cholesterol levels and I figured a plant based alternative would be low in it. Wrong.. 6g is as bad as a regular burger. Super disappointed because they are tasty. I unfortunately have to find a different brand, unless they're able to get the saturated fat down.
Today is the first time I tried these burgers and I was really hoping for more of a meat flavor like the chicken patties they make. Even with all my toppings including grilled onions, it tastes like soy 🤮. Compared to the Impossible frozen patties Gardeins burgers don't measure up at all. You can do better.
I've tried these multiple times, cooked in multiples ways, and only once did it turn out good in any way: on the grill. However, cooking in a pan per the instructions is a good way to end up with an excessively overdone crust and a generally not great consistency. You only get 2 per standard box, and it's way too expensive for more hassle without any benefit in taste or texture. Instead, go for the be'f burger 4 pack in the bag, it's much more delicious, easier to cook, less trouble, and the price is better.
I have been looking for their original burgers for a long time. When I saw these I thought they had just changed the packaging. Sadly, I should have read the label. Not only is the reformulation not as tasty, the nutrition is terrible. The amount of fat has increased so much and so has the calories. I don't like the texture and the flavor is far from delicious. I miss the old thin burgers. I will not buy these again.
These are incredibly gross. As soon as they start cooking they emit a smell like dog food. It's like the company was trying to replicate a meat smell but they really failed here. They don't taste of dog food, but that's not saying much.. they taste kind of dry, chewy, not a good flavor.. and they leave a gross aftertaste. Go ahead and skip these.
I buy Gardein frequently as it one of the only plant-based I felt was quality and tasted great. All of the new formulas I've tried, esp the chik'n, are horrible from texture to after taste, and some of the ingredients are questionable.
Absolutely tasteless your original plant based burgers were way better thesr ultimate are not worth wasting your money on. I'll continue to make my own lentil bean burgers.
