Garmin 010-12242-10 Bc 30 Wireless Backup Camera System

I had help at the dealer to install this into a GMC pickup. We made a bracket mounted with the upper license plate screws and ran the sending unit forward under the bed based upon previous reviews. The sending unit was mounted with a heavy service zip tie. The unit power was taken from a harness in front of the bumper. We used 2 feet of heat shrink tubing to seal the wires from the elements. This does render the in line fuse inaccessible but keeps it out of moisture. Mounting the camera on the license plate saved running wires through and drilling holes into the tailgate. The grid lines will need to be lowered to compensate. Make sure that you test the location of the sending and receiving units prior to mounting them permanently.

The back-up camera works flawlessly when installed properly. Connects quickly when going in reverse. Smooth and sharp video. This camera is wireless so must have the right gps for connection.

The camera was easy to install and setup, linked directly to my Garmin 2597 LMT with no issues, clear picture [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Purchased this item and a new Nuvi, as my current Nuvi was not compatable. Between the two way over $200.00. Installed it on my Nissan Frontier crew cab short bed. While I can see what's behind me the clarity is terrible, the color is terrible also. Initially had to install it in the tail light assembly area, so I thought the problem might be the location of the transmitter. I purchased an extension cable for the transmitter. Today I moved the transmitter and positioned it in my bed cap in several locations, settling on a location right above the window in the cap. distance from transmitter to receiver less than 5 ft. and no metal obstructing. NO Improvement. Recently backed up in a paved road with green grass on the side. Could not differentiate the pavement from the grass. Had a $40 camera in my previous frontier longbed, could pick up an individual leaf with that. Save yourself some money and get a cheap one off ebay, and you'll have better results
