There is a learning curve to this, but once set up, it is ON POINT!! The screen is definitely large, but it was so helpful during our off-road adventures. We will try it on our RZR but I do think it may be a bit large for that vehicle. Next step will be to download some custom maps for Oregon's original BDR trails. Will update after that! So far, I'm so glad I splurged! Well worth it!
We bought the Tread XL for our snowmobile and Jeep. We get into areas without cellphone signal, so the Inreach gives us piece of mind. Very happy with the built in maps and routing capability. The display quality has also been a nice surprise. Sun, snow, and water have not affected its performance.
First trip out with unit, traveled Southern Colorado and then to Moab. Such a great device to use while traveling both roads and trails and finding locations to camp, eat , and other locations of interest. One of our best upgrades to the campervan
It does take some learning with the option rich interface. The built in trail database is fantastic. We were able to use it to navigate through the dense trails around Mount Hood and up to Mount Rainier. Having a large Sprinter conversion van, the vehicle spec input kept us out of places we weren't allowed. Be warned, the 10" screen is huge and it probably to big for most vehicles.
Love the Tread XL. The big screen is mounted on a rail in the center of our dashboard. We use the iOverlander / BLM, National Forest features to find trails and dispersed camping all the time.
Perfect device for overlanding. Large screen and satellite emergency in one unit. Taking it on a trip up to Alaska to put it through its paces.
The information and features work great. The mapping software update required on a new instrument us a main in tge butt and should not be needed on a new machine. Also should be able to do updates using a cell phone like Active Captain does on Garmin marine devices I own. And satellite view should be a Google map like android auto not just a small immediate area. Good machine but could be so much better with technology that Garmin has in house
Very hard to use this device. First, it is not supported in Basecamp. What??? Second, the file system is different from other Garmins. The InReach is very spotty compared to say the Montana. Garmin does not allow you to have more than one device on an account, but it still seems to mix them (messages showing up on both, but sent to one). Odd since they are on seperate accounts. Needs work.
Not happy with it. It's unable to calculate to so many of my waypoints. The satellite imagery is blurry. My Samsung phone is much better it was less then half the price of the tread. If there is something wrong with my tread that can be fixed or replaced please let me know. Thank you for asking me
Was hard to get the right trail pulled up lost signal often way to expensive for what you get
