Garmin Dash Cam 57, 1440p and 140-degree FOV, Monitor Your Vehicle While Away w/ New Connected Features, Voice Control, Compact and Discreet, Includes Memory Card

I bought three Garmin 57 Dash Cams for Christmas gifts. Therefore I can only say that until they are given as presents on the 25th, that I bought them because they are a local area company with a proven track record and I hope these dash cams continue their ratings.

Price was lower than other sites I had checked. Garmin is a quality brand. I haven't taken the device out of the box yet but assume it will be fine.

The video is great, audio is great, installation is quick and easy.

It's the best car cam I ever have had. The video quality is nice and the cam body is small.

Works well and good resolution but disappointed that I cannot access the software Garmin Dashcam Player. I have an installed version because I have the Garmin GPS dashcam combo. I have no desire to upload to a cloud service. I'll check out the Garmin Drive app export feature. The dashcam seems to create a whole lot of small files and the GDCPlayer merged them all perfectly. I'm of the opinion that Garmin is promoting a cloud subscrition service.

I like the video quality and how easy the setup was. The length of the cable was just enough to plug into a cigarette plug on the bottom of the dash. I wish it was maybe a foot longer to reach another, always-on USB outlet, but alas. I use the timelapse mode every time I go on a roadtrip, and it's quite a convenient and effortless way to capture some of the memories related to the trip. The only annoyance is that there is no reminder or a widget showing how much of the memory card is filled with non-erasable footage. Such footage is the saved videos, timelapse videos, and anything else on the memory card that's not the recurring, standard dashcam footage. With time, the memory card fills up with these and there is no way to know whether your dashcam has a buffer of many hours or just a few minutes that it's overwriting again and again. This might be wearing out parts of the memory card prematurely, besides leaving you with no way to retrieve footage that happened more than a few minutes ago. Other than that, this is a great camera that I use everyday without any complaints.

For some reason, the first "57" I purchased malfunctioned - would not record while driving. After much frustration and trial and error - and the help of a wonderful Garmin technician (William), Garmin had me return the unit. They sent me a new one - worked great. I was so impressed with Garmin's response and William's help, that I ordered a second "57" for my second vehicle. Love 'em!!!!

I added this to the windscreen of my 4Runner. I combined it with an adapter from Trail Grid Pro to pull power from the overhead console. I also used the Garmin reusable suction mount as I was reluctant to stick something to my windscreen using 3M tape. The wider angle is really nice, and being a little higher up gives a great field of view. The alerts are a little annoying with their individual jangles but they are useful in their own way. Overall a good upgrade.

We purchased this recently to use in a motorhome. On our last trip, it worked well for recording and we liked the driver assist warnings that that were triggered by road conditions. We had a problem with the voice commands while driving. In the motorhome the windshield mount was about 4' + away from the driver; the sound level was also somewhat masked by road noise. The voice commands would not work when driving but would work ok when stopped. The promo material I had viewed had shown the benefits of using Garmin Dash Cam Player to view the recordings; when I tried to download the viewer, it shows to have been discontinued.

The product works great and is easy to install. The product description said it comes with a memory card. I called customer service and they have yet to rectify the problem.
