Garmin DriveSmart 50LMT 5" GPS

We are snowbirds. We always pack our old Garmin when we head to Florida. This year we decided to keep our old Garmin (which is over 10 years old and still works great) up north and purchase a new Garmin in Florida. This would save on one less thing to pack. We are very happy with our new GPS. We like the voice activated feature and drive safe mode with split screen that shows multiple lanes. Super quality and works great!

The hands-free navigation option is fantastic.

Superb unit with nice glass screen and the great current Garmin OS with lifetime maps. Nothing better is available at this price!

So far so good, we are planning to use on trip to Canada, and we will know more then. Local areas been pretty good so we shall see.

Everything and more than I hoped it would be. Would definitely recommend this for anyone.

After reviewing many units I chose the Garmin DriveSmart 50LMT to test out on our recent trip. I hadn't had a GPS for over ten years but thought it was time to get one with the latest maps and new technology. First, I found that it is very easy to use. Second it has lots of features that help you find where you are going. The touch screen is very responsive or you can use Voice Command. That's one thing I really liked was the Voice Command. Just say the address or place and it will find it. Simple. OK, for all you people that have previously reviewed it and say the Voice Command doesn't work well listen up. Turn the radio down, or off. Tell the people in the back seat having a party to hold down the noise for a second. Too much ambient noise will sometimes cause it to not function properly. If you speak normally and articulate your words it will work every time. I gave it dozens of addresses and places to find and it never missed one. This is a great product and Garmin's customer service is excellent. I had a quick question about loading maps of the UK on it and got an answer back the same day.

It is easy to operate, it has features I don't use, it has voice command that I don't use , the parts I use, I love it, has never not got me where I wanted to go !!

The product was missing a mounting bracket, needed to return it and I ordered another unit.

While I liked the fact you could speak into the gps without typing a location, place, etc… about 97% of the time, the machine did not get the spoken commands correct. Also, the gps has not been updated to include the newest and most accurate data. You will need to purchase a separate item to update the data. For the price of this device, it is not worth the hassle and money.

The Garmin doesn't work I think the battery's bad it doesn't wanna hold a charge and will not stay on
