Garmin DriveSmart 7 NA LMT-S GPS Device

My husband bought this for himself and he loves it. It's quite the thing to depend on.

I bought this particular GPS because I learned it had a lithium battery in it, whereas many do not have any backup battery. I ASSUMED it would be good at least for an hour or two hours. Nope! It powers down after about 15 seconds or less. Garmin tech support said that is because of the large screen and if I want more battery life, I'd have to cut back on the screen illumination, sound, etc. They just don't get it, do they? While most people are now using cell phone GPSs, you'd think Garmin would give more features like maybe two hour battery life along with the more detailed GPS features than you can get on a cell phone. Customers input is secondary I guess. At this price point, we deserve it.

My first Garmin was a C30 street pilot, followed by several Nuvi models and this one is the best one yet. The larger screen is easy to see for these old eyes, the voice command seems to be working well, and most amazing it matched up with my antique flip phone for hands free calling. It does find the satelites a lot faster than the nuvis. Only used it for a couple of trips around town and only one time was questionable, it wanted me to get on a freeway that at 5PM is a parking lot. As soon as I passed that one it picked another route that works much better at that time of day. Maybe with a smart phone the traffic report might be better but using the traffic receiver in the power cord has always been sketchy. All in all I would rate this among the best of all the Garmins I have owned over the years.

I ordered a Garmin 86 and a Garmin 71 was delivered.

When I received it I hooked it up and it worked great for 1 day but then the unit no longer worked, so now I have to wait up to 10 days for a refund..SMH

Dont waste your money. Voice recognition is awful and very frustrating. She cannot find anywhere and when she does it's not local its miles and miles away. Yes it is updated, twice. I always have to type it in or use my phone. Phone is 1000% better. Too bad Garmin wont align with google. This product makes me want to smash it. Cannot return because there is a 15 day return period. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
