Garmin Edge 1050 has impressive technology

Starth15 November 14, 2024

Garmin Edge 810 I owned for 14 some years. Power button broke a month back (10/4/24). Decided to get the best one Garmin has out. Just like I did with Garmin edge 810. Youtube / Starth15

Long overdue upgrade from my older model!

Bushdoctor89 March 27, 2026

As an avid cyclist in my late sixties I needed cycling computer with large, bright display and what a difference between this one and my old Edge 1030! Add smooth integration with other Garmin products like Forerunner watch Varia Radar or power pedals and you have ideal set for enthusiastic cyclist.

Full of capabilities and great display

ShockleyR58 December 1, 2025

I’ve have the Edge 1050 for almost six months now. I use it for mainly for MTB and indoors during the winter months. The integration with Trail Forks is nearly flawless. In less than a minute or two I can have routes uploaded from the web to Garmin Connect and to the Edge. Or even quicker directly from Trail Forks. I don’t like the search function, so I typically put thought into my route ahead of time. Fork Sight is great when navigating larger trail networks. It gives a lot of stats when paired with the required sensors. My only thought of opportunities is an improved mount. It needs torquing every 2-3 rides and after a few months it went flying after the mount broke. Luckily I had it tethered. The most recent update to include a weather map with wind or precipitation overlays was much needed.

I always use Garmin Cycling computers. battery life is great and never have any issues. I have completed five double century rides and never worry about battery life. I highly recommend this product to beginners or experts.

Like it more than expected

DougG June 2, 2025

I'm not nor ever have been a competitive cyclist, and at 78yo this is truer than ever. In fact, I didn't see any need to upgrade to this device except that my wife has had her eye on "inheriting" my 1030 Plus. So I went ahead and bought the 1050 and have been more than pleased with its features (and I probably only use about 10% of what's there!). Mainly it's the bright, colorful, hi-res screen that makes a huge difference. Colors pop like never before and even the smallest fonts are crisp and clear (see the photo of the MyEdge2 iQConnect app screen). Another welcome improvement is that it appears to respond quicker to gradient changes than the 1030+ did. I haven't yet used it to navigate a preloaded route but that's one of my prime uses for it, and the finer detail on the map screen should be useful. On my rides so far I've even been notified of construction, hazards, or heavy traffic ahead but I haven't yet figured out how to report those types of conditions. So overall I'm very happy with my purchase and my wife is also happy with her "new" 1030 Plus!

You won’t regret it!

El Rey June 18, 2025

Absolutely love the new Garmin 1050! The large screen and easy-to-read text make it super user-friendly, even in bright light. Battery life is solid—even without battery saver mode, it lasts a long time. The digital bell is hands-down my favorite feature—makes me feel like a kid again every time I use it! Another big plus is how well it connects with Garmin Connect—you get daily training suggestions sent right to the device. You can even pair it with your Garmin watch for a fully connected training experience. If you’re thinking about upgrading, stop thinking and go for it. You won’t regret it!

Garmin 1050 is absolutely fantastic

Mike bike September 11, 2025

The Garmin 1050 is absolutely fantastic for cycling enthusiasts like me. It's packed with metrics that track every ride-speed, distance, elevation, power, and more. Pairs seamlessly with my radar for extra safety, spotting cars in real time. Lightweight, super accurate, and the navigation's spot-on. Boosts my rides with data I can actually use to improve. Absolutely worth every penny-best cycling tool I've ever owned! Miguel Z

Great except…

RichofSoCal December 2, 2025

Very comprehensive and bright snd easy to read. Visibility was my main criterium. Large learning curve, but the more I use it, the easier it gets to find what I’m looking for in the many menus. Start up works pretty well and connections are smooth EXCEPT WHY WON’T GARMIN CONNECT WITH APPLE WATCH HEART RATE!!!! It is so annoying to have to wear a separate arm band just to get my heart rate into the 1050. After all it does connect to my iphone seamlessly and Apple heart rate connects to all the other apps I use. I compared readings between apple watch hr and Garmin from an arm band over a 15 mile ride and they were always within 1 beat of each other, sometimes the same. Apple and Garmin are watch competitors, I know. But it almost caused me to NOT buy a Garmin bike computer. Had it not had brightest display/battery time combo, I would have bought a competitor so I could use my Apple watch with it. And connections apps are more trouble than they are worth!

Doesn’t work with my e-bike

Evie rider April 16, 2026

If I could use it I would give it a better review. It doesn’t work correctly with my e-bike and so far support service has not been able to help.

Don’t add sensors

Rebecca H August 15, 2025

This device is too complicated if you want to add any sensors. I took it to a Trek bike shop for them to install and setup. They said it was very hard to pair the sensors to the device. It doesn’t really work plus I can’t shut the device off because the timer is in progress. So that has rendered this device useless. They can’t figure out how to turn the timer off. Garmin chat doesn’t respond so I’m going to have to waste my time and call Garmin. Don’t waste your money on the Edge 1050.
