I love my new Fenix 6x Pro Solar. I was a little worried it would be to bulky but it actually gets snagged on less clothing and backpack straps than my old tactical instinct. I bought my wife the same watch in the small version and she loves it as well. It's a big upgrade for both of us as far as what the watch can do. I really enjoy being able to not only load workouts onto my watch but also creating my own workouts and having them right there ready to go. And having music wireless on my runs without my phone is a game changer. I hate having stuff with my on runs I don't need. And the amount of activities you can track is insane. So if you just plan on using this to track runs you can definitely spend less money on a simpler watch. But if you're a data junkie like me and love to track everything from walks to workouts to rock climbing then this is a great watch. The solar aspect is cool, although I'm still not sure how much it genuinely helps. Overall, I recommend this watch for anyone who loves to see tons of data about workouts, daily activities and even sleep.
My wife surprised me 2 months early with this gift and she did good! Really good. I'm a gadget guy or high tech redneck and this is perfect for me. The quality is top notch! I can't wait to see how it tracks my activities. So far it's a 10! It's even fully charged out of the box. I've had fitbits and this watch is on another level. Thanks babe!
This product has a lot of features for a smart watch that coupled with the Connect app, provides more than the basic health metrics I originally wanted. I've used this for gathering base information such as blood pressure, hours slept, steps, etc. There are too many features to discuss and the ones I like most are the metrics of my sports activities (like running and walking) and the ability to music providers such as Spotify. This looks likes a watch that will last for a long time so until there's a needed feature on a future product, I will use this until that time. The Connect app is a great complement to the watch but that's a product that needs its own review. Great job Garmin!
I use this watch for my SAR trailing K9. It is a great training tool and one of the best features for me is the buzz on my wrist when we get too far off a target track. I do not have to stop and look at a GPS to know how well my dog is tracking, the little buzz is enough information to help my K9 reacquire the track while focusing on her body language and not a little screen. I use the watch paired with the Garmin Alpha 200i and my cell phone, so I have information about my K9's location and behavior right on my wrist and I can set waypoints as needed. My Alpha usually just stays in my pack. I also love the peace of mind that the watch detects falls and will activate help via inReach if I don't respond... even though I find the detection to be quite sensitive at times. Overall great tool that meets my specific needs for SAR training and missions.
I use to carry around a full blown gps a smart watch for my phone and a map. Now it's just the watch and a map however very little need for the map since the battery last almost a month for this watch depending on what you are doing. It adds that extra security to your EDC wether you are in town or on a mountain hunting elk.
I bought garmin fenix 6x solar 6 years ago and its batterry become lower function and I changed it but now the sensor led is not working at all. I was happy with this so far. I want to use it more but seems like the sensor is gone.
This watch is everything I hoped for; an upgrade from my Fenix 3 that lasts much longer and has more accurate data. It has all the activities under the sun and I love how easy it is to use. The addition of the HRM is very cool too, I used to avoid them because of how bulky they were but I forget that this has one. Only gripe is that there's no option for the Solar to also come with Sapphire glass; I understand that's probably due to efficiency of the panel, but the glass (although very resilient and tough!) That is does have isn't as strong and has scratched a tiny bit. Enough to bother my OCD but not enough to affect usage.
Garmin seems to no longer be maintaining this watches software? I have to pair it to my phone every couple days now.
Had the watch for about 6 months. Worked pretty well but started with the music downloads disappearing or not syncing. As an active diver I have been swimming and real shallow depths of 10 feet or so and gtg. I did a dive yesterday to 16 feet and watch froze. I tried to charge and reset and now it's just dead.
The watch won't hold or automatically reconnect to my phone. It has to be set up as a new watch 2nor 3 times per day. It worked fine for a couple of years. Won't show the battery remaining unless plugged into a charger
