I run in the winter and I need a simple no frills/thrills watch that functions with buttons instead of a smart screen - The Forerunner 55 is perfect for winter running! No more trying to change screens or check stats on an amoled touchscreen with your gloves on. The FR 55 is accurate for GPS, heart rate, and pace with a touch of a button. I really enjoy the light gray background with black fonts - it is so much easier to read under the winter sky. Many running coaches rely on the K.I.S.S. training approach. K.I.S.S. stands for: "Keep it simple and straight forward" With the Forerunner 55, Garmin did just that.
I caught this watch on sale and ordered it for my husband. His old Garmin watch was starting to go out so he needed a new one. He likes this one better than his old one. I plan to replace mine with this one when the time comes. The battery life is SO good! and the watch stays lit up where you can see the time all the time. He can still get his notifications/messages on it. And it looks more like a regular watch than a smart watch.. 👍🏻
Gift for my adult son. His old watch was not holding a charge. He walks 5-8 miles 4 times/week. He loves his new Garmin watch. it holds a charge so much longer than his old one and it measures health data in areas he has interest in. it's a good looking watch. The band is comfortable. This was an excellent purchase.
The user interface for running is very nice. They obviously consulted runners. The other cheaper GPS watches I tried were cumbersome to the point of useless while trying to run, especially when trying to go for a fast time.
Love Garmin. Bought this for our ten year old, he’s already running circles in the parking lot timing himself! We upgraded from the kids Garmin, which lasted well and battery was the best. He just wanted more features. Love the feature the tells you how well you slept and what your body is ready for.
this item looks and works great. I've used all of the features, including exercise, find my phone, emergency location alert, email and text, etc. seamless connection to Garmen connect. You do need to read two pages of the manual to fully understand the function buttons. That must be too much for some of the low-star raters. 🤣 Yes, I'm a real unpaid reviewer.
The rating of overall satisfaction, in this context, is a function of the two elements of price and quality, because that is the way you presented it. I believe the price should definitely be lower for what was received, but relative to other retailers, it may be about as good as you get. The rating of quality really cannot yet be determined this soon after purchase, but hopes are that Garmin will deliver reasonable quality. The rubber/plastic watch band will probably fail before it should.
Wore it once to work and the screen was cracked at the end of the day. I liked the design and was excited to get the watch but bummed it broke so easily. For reference I was weedeating for about 5 minutes, otherwise just hauling things that day so nothing that should have caused a crack like that.
My husband wears readers %26 cannot read the display or buttons. The font size is too small %26 the contrast isn't great either. Not recommended for visual impairment
The smell is unreal, like heavily fragranced lotion that's been rotting in the sun all summer. Ordering a brand new band to go on it because the stink is so overwhelming. No way this is a new product, this had to have been a refurbished unit or a restocked return. It's gross.
