Typical Garmin excellence.

jccFr945lte May 25, 2026

I've been an avid runner for decades and have used several Forerunner models. I'm in my 80s and regularly run on forest trails away from cellular coverage, and have been looking for a practical way for my family to know where I am. The Forerunner 945 LTE provides just what I've been looking for. My guess is that I use about 5 % or less of its capability since I only use it for running/hiking. Having used it now for a few weeks I'm just getting comfortable with the LiveTracking feature (hope I don't need the SOS but good to know it's there). Ruggedness and functionality are well thought out (typical Garmin). Once again, I've declared Garmin the gold standard.

I got my new Garmin about 4 weeks ago, and it's working well. I love that it's a lightweight watch.

Everything I could want and more

Dennis E September 15, 2023

This watch has everything I could imagine wanting a watch for running and many other sports/ activities. As a distance athlete, I love the ability to add routes, work-outs, etc. Garmin training plans load right in and are suggested each morning when I head out the door. This a pretty expensive watch, so may not be my 1st choice for a beginner, but if you want to make the most of your running experience, it's difficulty to beat this bad boy.

Best overall Garmin watch

Navyvoce January 5, 2022

There is no activity this watch can't track. Amazing battery life. Light enough to sleep in. Added peace of mind with the LTE feature. I can run with music and GPS, with all the safety features enabled and give out before this watch does. Garmin is the leader in watches and the future.

Amazing even without using LTE functionality

Bridger P March 3, 2022

I went from a FR 935 to an Apple Watch Series 5 to this. I went to the Apple Watch from the 935 because I didn't like how bulky the 935 was, and didn't see much benefit from that over the Apple. I got this 945 LTE because I wanted more metrics around my running and integration with cycling computer for mountain biking, and this thing is awesome. It's not as bulky as the 935 or 945 and even the band is an improvement over the 935. VO2, recovery metrics, and body battery have helped shape my running regiment immensely. One feature I hadn't expected to be so useful is the 'suggested workout' feature. Every morning it takes your recovery and past 7-day training load profile to suggest a workout to keep your training balanced. This helps take some guesswork out of listening to your body, and has even recommended I take a day of rest after not getting enough sleep after a long run. Listening to my body I would have otherwise gone for an easy jog, but my easy jogs have a tendency of turning into tempo runs. Taking a rest day instead helped me recover from the training the day before, and the next day the suggested workout was sprint repeats. If I had gone with my gut instinct, I likely would have delayed recovery and definitely wouldn't have been in shape for a hard anaerobic workout. I did have some skin irritation after a few nights of sleep tracking, but a call with support was super helpful and they pointed out that wearing it too tight can cause excessive friction and can actually decrease the quality of sensor readings, since the capillaries in your wrist can get squeezed. Overall, this watch is 100% worth the investment. GPS accuracy is amazing and I've had no issues with heart rate readings deviating from manual measurements. The additional features this Watch have make it stand out from the rest of the crowd, without breaking the bank.

Best Watch Ever

Anonymous January 15, 2022

Honestly, this thing completely changed how I track everything. I've always needed to focus on nutrition, this helps tackle that. I struggle with sleep, this helps tackle what I'm working with for the day. Every run is completely detailed with everything I'd ever want for a watch, tracked. Don't buy anything else.

Great watch, with a learning curve

Brett_G May 22, 2023

I had a Forerunner 935 for 5 years before moving to a 945 LTE. The 935 was holding up just fine, but I wanted the safety tracking features from the LTE. The documentation that came with the watch left me struggling to figure out the music aspect and the live track options for emails and text message notifications. I received the watch on a Monday, with the intent of letting family and friends track me in my marathon that was 6 days away. I hated it for the first day and a half as I struggled to get live track emails to the correct people. I had to search online a few times and then found a setting in Garmin Connect that fixed the problem. I always wanted to load some music and struggled with getting Amazon Music set up. Again, google searching for half an hour got me to the right place. It would be great if this came with better how to guides, but now that I'm used to the features and how they work it's perfect. The GPS is very accurate, the live track and live event sharing worked flawlessly in my marathon, and the music feature works. The music interface is a bit clunky, but it's also a watch and not an iPod. This watch is perfect for folks who do not like to carry a phone while running, but still want the peace of mind of having a contact if there's an emergency. I was holding out as long as I could for a newer model to include LTE, but now that I have it I wish I would have bought it sooner.

So much functionality!

Adrien September 3, 2023

I bought this watch as a birthday present for myself, to facilitate my half marathon training. It replaced my old 630. I got this because I wanted a watch with a wrist sensor, that could store and play music, and has LTE based safety features so I can run without my phone. The watch has been perfect for this, and I find the built in diagnostics helpful in objective assessment of my efforts and recovery needs. The software can be a little finicky re: wifi, music downloading, and connecting to AirPods but there are some helpful YouTube tutorials where the instructions provided in the booklet and on the Garmin website seemed outdated or incorrect.

Solid, Sturdy, Relatively Accurate

Kiko August 7, 2022

I bought my first Forerunner 945 LTE a couple months ago. It was a lemon. The wifi did not sync properly. After a couple troubleshooting phone calls, Garmin replaced it. The replacement watch has been solid. Everything works. The pros include the wide variety of sports it tracks, its durability and relative ease of use once its been set up. Speaking of, the set up is tricky. If it's your first Garmin, it might take some time and assistance to tailor it to your liking. I only gave 4 stars because I'm not convinced of its accuracy considering the expense of the watch. My girlfriend also has a Garmin. We hike, run & cycle together and yet the watches track us for different heights and elevations. So I might log a 3.1 mile run and her watch would say 2.9 miles. Over time, that adds up. I'm glad to have the watch. I hope that future versions improve their ease of use. I give extra credit for the helpfulness of Garmin's staff with my first watch.
