Well I stepped up to this model from Garmin 72csx. It is nice to have touch and a screen twice the size. So far it seems to get a better fix than my old one. I gets the fix faster than my old one but does take a bit longer to boot. The unit has better ability to handle graphics and does so more quickly. It is nice having the the USB c interface to move data more quickly.
This is about my 7th handheld Garmin Gps, so I have seen a few. I like the slightly larger screen and the increased sensitivity to pick up signals in covered areas. The side button to program functions is good. You need it to turn off the screen when pocketing, or the touch screen will do crazy things (Garmin Oregon, ugh). And the new back mount is better. Now the problems, the apps don't stay up when powering off, so you have to turn on the apps each time of powering on. The map selections seem to do the same thing, lose the memory of what was selected. The real BIG issue is the screen, it is so poorly backlit compared to the last model (66sr) it is impossible to read in a car in daylight. Or read most of the time if not in sunlight. What happened? TFT screens are not new, how did it get so dim? Oh and I forgot, the voice on the internal speaker is way too soft, not able to hear in a car at full volume, how do cell phones have such loud volume?
I had a 62 that still functions and the screen is fine because I had a case. This has crack and scratches after a few hikes. They offer no cases for it. Not very rugged. Just an expensive piece of junk I regret buying
I like the concept, but the unit doesn't work. I have been trying to update the unit for 2 weeks but it keeps freezing and I have to continually power off. Had a lot of trouble getting the unit to recognize an SD card. I will need to return it. For cost of this unit, you would think that all of the bugs would have been fixed before release.
