Excellent and solar power in awesome. Good size and not too large or small.
It's my first smart watch, thus has nothing to compare with. Garmin Instinct 3 Solar Tactical looks solid, absolutely love the Torch (each time using it feel like a kid during Christmas, lol). I can't say much about the fitness features yet, as I've had a pretty sedentary lifestyle and have only been using the watch for less than a month. The main selling point for me was the battery life—I really like the idea that it can potentially last over a month with enough sun exposure.
This is an amazing watch. The only complaint I have is that it does not have a default strong password lock and unlock, though you can wipe it, with commands though that is not quote clear as to how either. This aside, screen is bright, battery lasts for weeks and it has stealth modes and quiet modes.
Purchased this watch a month ago to upgrade from my Instinct 2. This watch is a total upgrade all around. The display options, the activities, the torch. Great product with zero complaints so far. I'm about to take it on a mobilization, so we'll see how well it holds up to the conditions I'll put it through there. If it's anything like the Instinct 2, it'll hold up to just about anything. I recommend the Instinct line of watches to all of my soldiers. Keep up the great work.
I decided to ditch my Apple Watch in favor of trying out the Garmin Instinct 3 Tactical Solar, and couldn't be happier. The main selling point for me on this watch was the battery life, which is absolutely incredible. I got this watch three weeks ago and I'm still around 30% battery life without any recharges. The data on the watch face is easy to read, even with so much information readily available. On my standard face, I can see the temperature, windspeed and direction, step count, heart rate, time, miles walked, number of unread notifications, the day and date, my battery life, and my solar recharging status. It took a while to configure everything just how I wanted it since everything is fully customizable, but that that's a good thing in my book. There are a lot of different accessories available, and I am currently using a classy looking metal watch band and have a glass screen protector on the face. I use the flashlight feature all the time, and it's incredibly bright and convenient. The unexpected feature that I have found myself most grateful for is the body battery meter. The watch uses health, activity, rest, and sleep data to come up with a figure that shows my body's energy level as a battery percentage. As a member of the grind culture working a physically demanding job 40 to 55 hours a week and with lots of extracurricular activities, I am used to pushing through fatigue and working myself to the bone. Having a numerical value to represent how much energy I have left has helped me decide when I need to rest and when I have a little bit more energy to give. I am not usually one to listen to my body, but I do listen to hard data. The watch helps with that. I couldn't be more pleased with this watch and have already convinced two friends to buy one as well!
This watch has turned out to be even more awesome that what I thought it would be. The tactical looks very sleek and with the all black I've been wearing it with all of my outfits so far. I feel most people would be able to use it easily as the buttons are very straightforward compared to a traditional smartwatch that can be very gesture heavy. There are so many features that it may take a while to know how each works and when to use them but thats the same for any technology nowadays. The health metrics are a great tool as well and so far seem to be quite accurate. I will keep this watch for as long as I can and im sure I'll be with the Garmin family for a while.
Exactly what I Wanted. More than I need and simply wanted. Could I have gotten something much more expensive. . . I hadn't had ‘that much' to drink that evening and my cooler head prevailed. Garmin is King at this time. Seiko, Casio, Seiko (Again) and Reactor my previous fixations. . . All still exist in a drawer. Instinct Gen 1 lasted seven years. Gonna be sending it in for a check up and Battery Change (it in the end was holding a full charge for about six hours to power off. Loving Garmin still Instinct 3 - agin much more than I personally need but my options are wide open. Scale of One to Five - five.
I bought this specifically for the ability to pair with my Garmin InReach mini communicator. I am often in remote areas doing landscape photography ( especially in NC forests), and you never know when some unfortunate thing can happen. The InReach is always on my backpack - so being able to activate it from my wrist is a good thing. Yes I know the apple watched and others can do these things - but Garmin paired works globally. So far I and the watch are getting used to each other and I am sure many of the myriad of functions will be useful. The watch is solidly built - built to be outdoors and not an ornament! The solar should be okay - I live in FL (I know, flat uninspiring). So far - very happy - we shall see over the coming months how well the watch performs.
I bought this watch and I'm so happy I did. I used to wear a Apple watch Ultra and there is two things that are huge difference. The first is obviously the battery. I would have to charge my apple watch at least everyday if not only 2 days of use. I went 3 weeks and I still had battery of 35%. The second is I use my watch to track sleep as well as my alarm. I have 2 small kids and one that still sleeps in our room so the traditional alarm would wake our child up. So I went with wearing a watch to wake me up from vibrate option. But the weight compared to apple watch was so much better. I would dread having to wear my apple watch because it was uncomfortable because of weight. I never got used to wearing it. Now with Garmin I barely know I'm wearing it at night. Biggest game changer in my option.
The GUI is very difficult to navigate. Extremely frustrating.
