Let me start by saying that Ive never owned an Apple Watch so I cant compare this to anything but my Casio G Shock. This Garmin Instinct Tactical is the sickest watch Ive ever owned. I have an extreme physically demanding job and so far this watch is taken the beating like a champ. I compared the gps coordinates on the watch feature to my ships AIS coordinates and it was spot on to the second. I really love all the features this watch has to offer. For my job I need to constantly know wind direction and weather conditions so that I can conduct my job in a safe manner. I like the fact that I could put that information out right on the face of the watch so I dont have to constantly search for it. I also love how this watch connects to the my fitness app and syncs my bodies diagnostics with my fitness regiment and my dietary intake. The magnetic compass is also spot on as well when compared to the ships compass. Oh and we were also 20 miles offshore and it had no problem connecting to the satellite. If I was ever in a search and rescue situation I would feel comfort knowing that this watch was on my wrist. As of right now Ive had the watch for two weeks. I look forward to updating this review in the future. I highly recommend this watch.
good for price, I really like back to school (like old-gold G-shock). I change from Apple Watch to Garmin and very happy with this. It's not just one more screen for your iPhone, it's totally stand alone watches with gps track, good thing - long time battery (goodbye every day charging!!!)
I have had this same watch since 2018. It is by far the best watch i have ever owned. I have dont have anything bad to say about it. If you want simplicity, you want functionality, and you want reliability, GET THIS WATCH!
I've had this watch for years now, probably close to 5 years. I'm a law enforcement officer and have found more than a handful of uses for this watch. It is very practical. I liked the fact that it didn't look like every other smart watch out there, but with all the features of one. I can read and answer messages with it, answer phone calls, change song with the push of 2 or 3 buttons, rugged as hell, never put a screen protector on it and not a single scratch is visible. Has all the heartrate features as well, GPS, and helps me find my phone every time I misplace it. Battery life is great. Usually lasts me about 2 weeks on a single charge. I have nothing but great things to say about this Instinct. Great work, Garmin.
This is my third Garmin. Purchased about a month ago. Love the retro style. Light on the wrist. Lots of features. Very accurate. Excellent battery life. Easy to navigate. Just wish it could track golf, without the added $200 price bump. All in all, a great buy.....
I've had my instinct for 5 years and absolutely love it. Far as I'm concerned it payed for itself the first time I was chasing my dogs in the big swamp and it clouded over. It guided me out perfectly. It has literally saved my butt many many times since
I bought my Garmin Instinct watch a few years ago and it has been mostly reliable, however for the past few weeks it keeps disconnecting from my Samsung mobile phone. Although it is relatively easy to pair the watch and phone it has been inconvenient, having to reconnect the watch most weeks. Other than this, this the Garmin Instinct has been very reliable, with ample daily health information.
It's a good watch for someone who does a lot of outdoor navigation. Paint on watch face will scratch easily. Weather widget will not update unless it has location services enabled. No bells and whistles. Not very user intuitive operation, but easy enough to learn. Watch band is comfortable and highly adjustable to just about any wrist size. If it was 2012 this watch would be top of the line. If you want a fully featured watch I would look elsewhere.
Great watch. Lousy app. It took several minutes to install the app. It took at least 2 minutes to log on to my pre-existing account. It took another couple of minutes to connect to the watch. Now that things are up and running, it will be interesting to see if the app remains as cumbersome as it has been. If so, I'll have to switch to a better product.
I bought the watch with the expectation that it would record my steps, as I have had a TomTom sports watch for 6 years that recorded my steps, had a large screen easy to read without glasses, had a loud alarm & the vibration was perfect. I am totally dissapointed with this Garmin Instinct watch. It records about every 20th step, the alarm does not wake me & it does not vibrate when the alarm goes off. I read the instructions & have watched many videos of how to set up the watch. BUT it has been a great big dissapointment. Checking the steps between the 2 devices over a week TT 30k Garmin 5k
