I have had for only about three weeks but with the screen protectors that I got for it I am very happy. It has a plastic display so the protectors were a must and have it work properly. It is a lit6tle different than my old Nuvi 755 but getting used to the differences. I do wish I knew how to download some different voices like I used to be able to do.
We bought this garmin a month ago and just love it. It does everything we want it to and the voice command option is great.
This is my second one and it is a huge improvement over the earlier models.
Christmas present for my husband, who's very hard to please. HE LOVES IT!! I'm a little surprised because he's generally critical of most electronics. So far, he's happy with everything about it.
I replaced an older Garmin with this newer model. Improvements are (1)voice commands, (2)blue tooth phone connection for hands free dialing and conversation.
I bought this for me & the 57LMT for my wife, who mostly drives locally. Her 57LMT was junk. You can read my review under that device. The 2599 is not without flaws, but so far it's been good overall. Pros: Voice Commands work very well, especially for saved locations. It calculates & recalculates very quickly. It starts and restarts quickly. Very nice screen Touch screen is very responsive Cons: Sometimes the device will be navigating & responding to voice commands, but the screen is black. Simply hitting the power button in the back of the twice will quickly restart the device. The traffic feature is not very good. The suction cup will fall from time to time overnight, but I've never come across a GPS whose mount was perfect, especially in cold weather.
this replaces an older Garmin. Only improvement I like is the spoken directions are better, but still not what Garmin claims. Just used on a 1000 mile trip. The freshly updated maps did not show road changes that are over a year old. I never once had a spoken direction that said "turn at the next light, or the Quick Trip' as touted, only " in 1/4 mile turn right". I sat in traffic jams that did not show on the unit, but did show on Google maps on my phone, and this unit supposedly has the premium traffic which I had 'ON' in settings. With road noise I found the hands free phone pretty useless and people on the other end could not hear me. Screen glare is worse than my old unit but tolerable. All in all, not near as improved as I expected from the description.
Used it about 10 times so far. It seems slower in giving turn directions than the old one. It does seem to have more information on it than the old one. Bought it for when I rent a car in other places, but have not tested it anywhere except in my home area.
Purchased on 9-9-2016 to use during a trip to NJ. During use in NJ directions seemed confusing and seemed to take me the longest route. But, not knowing the area I had no choice but to follow the directions given. Upon return home, where I am familiar with the area I decided to try the GPS just to see if the directions given made any sense. They DID NOT !! One on occasion GPS actually kept telling me to turn right in 2 miles, 1 mile etc on to a street that I was already driving on. I will be returning to store. Avoid this product unless you enjoy going in circles, taking the longest way to a destination and being confused because you are being told to turn on to a street that you are already driving on.
This was an update from a Garmin 340 I bought many years ago. The old GPS works fine, but it is very limited with memory and features. I bought this 2599 expecting similar performance. The features and functionality are amazing, but it only lasted a few hours. I was planning to use it today for guidance to an address I was not familiar with. I powered it on, and set the new address. When I took it to the car and powered it from the lighter connection - nothing. It will not power up from external or internal power. Guess it will have to go back to Garmin for service.
