Garmin nüvi 55LM Automobile Portable GPS Navigator

replacing old unit that gave up after 9 years of use. Got next bigger screen, much easier to see. Worked perfect right from the start. Using it in vehicles without navigation systems.

It worked great loved that it showed what exit looked like in corner of screen so I couldn't miss it

I have always used Garmin GPS products. The Nuvi 55LM was purchased to use with my truck and camper. I wanted a good unit with lifetime maps that gave the information needed to get from point A to point B. This unit does that without any of the distractions of traffic reports and detours.

Bought this just before taking a trip from OK to LA and I'm so glad I did! So much more reliable than using my phones navigation and it only glitches once but luckily it wasn't a major problem. Overall I loved it! Now if I can just get my sister to return it lol

This GPS is convenient and easy to use. It does exactly what I want it to do. It finds locations quickly, provides easy to follow routes and is easy to read. It's a good buy!

Some nice features like "up ahead" that tells you things like distance to a rest stop or gas. The thing that stops me from rating higher is the out of date maps, yes it has free lifetime updates and I've done that but it still won't find my home address and I've lived here a year and a half.

It looks nice, but as we try to select letters/places, etc. where we touch (like you would on a phone), it did not register. You had to touch slightly higher, sometimes too close to the top line. Made it really frustrating. Not sure if this is a defect, but not worth trying again. I didn't like that it doesn't show split lanes when you are coming along a freeway where it splits; it doesn't tell you which lane to go to. Only if that's an exit. Needless to say, I took the wrong lane several times. We tried to go to a park, and it brought me to the back side/dead end road, not the entrance. Not worth keeping.

this GPS said you could speak to it to get directions. YOU CAN NOT.

Used it twice in 3 days and it quit working
