Great little computer!

Rick December 22, 2022

It was a smaller screen than I expected even though the description was right there. That was then. Now it has become my go to 'puter. Microsoft walked me through all the steps needed to get it working properly. And it went by very smoothly. I love it!

Better than expected.

Thomas December 6, 2022

Fantastic value for a small laptop, just wish you could add more ram. I am experiencing a minor problem when it enters sleep mode, it won't wake up unless I hit the power button. Good shell construction made out of metal and excellent screen. My hopes where not high for this unit at $129.00 but have been very pleased.

great value for price

home6199 December 13, 2022

works well enough for low end things. if you need an efficient browsing device this is great. especially for the price. it comes preinstalled with windows 10 however it can be upgraded to windows 11. i have already done so and i recommend as it opens up the apps it can run. it took a long time to finally update to windows 11 though. i recommend just leaving it on overnight and turn off the sleep setting so it stays on. eventually it will tell you windows 11 is ready for you. another note is the thermal throttling. this is fanless and therefore relies on passive cooling. however this results in laggy performance after a while. that can be fixed by opening the bottom and applying a thermal pad between the heatsink and the bottom lid. the one major con imo is the ram capacity. 4gb really isnt much and you will see usage as above 50 percent all the time. this also makes it so you cant install android apps. the ram limit is 8gb for that. Pros are lightweight, good screen, 128gb instead of 64gb of storage in some low end machines, lte, battery life, and outer shell material. Cons, performance is meh, ram is not enough and will limit functionality.

I was a little skeptical when considering the Gateway 13.3 notebook. I wanted something lighter for traveling. Overall I found that it was a pretty good notebook, the feel of it is nice, however they could have put a better keyboard with it. The battery lasts a long time, I haven't timed it to see how long. definitely longer than my laptop. some apps have issues after I upgraded to Windows 11. Overall I am pleased with it's performance considering the price. we shall see over time how it will work out.

Only 1 Problem

Doug December 11, 2022

Walmart service was excellent. The laptop is really good for what I bought it for, reading my morning paper. Only problem I have is the SD card slot for some reason does not register anywhere on Windows 10, including the device manager. I chose not to return , because I had already set up the laptop. Did not want the hassle.

Solid, BUT NO WINDOWS UPDATE AT ALL

jl787 December 13, 2022

Solid laptop with NO UPDATE TO WINDOWS 11 as we speak december 14 2022. It says will be available between 2021 and early 2022 had to return it. Have to give low stars because that unfulfilled promise. Really liked the laptop but the lack of real software support is a red flag.

Ill-conceived notebook with very limited uses

Jeff December 3, 2022

For those that don't know or didn't look at it close enough like myself before purchasing, this uses Windows 10 on Arm. This means you can't install x64 bit applications because Windows 10 on Arm doesn't have a x64 emulator. So most programs can't be installed on the machine. You're pretty limited to only the apps in the Microsoft store. There's a little tag on the picture saying Free Upgrade to Windows 11 (which does have a x64 emulator) but there has not been a wide release of Windows 11 on Arm. There is an Insider Preview version available, however, that requires use of a virtual drive, which this notebook CANNOT DO! So this laptop will probably never be able to upgrade to Windows 11 despite being advertised as such. I mainly got this to use for a lightweight notebook to use for the screenwriting program Final Draft, but again as that's a x64 program, it's not usable on this machine. I bought this as a Black Friday deal for less than half the normal price and still feel cheated. This machine is useless unless you only use it to watch Netflix or use Microsoft Word. But if thats the case, there are much better, cheaper notebooks available. You're better off getting a Chromebook, at least that has a lot more usable apps. This notebook was not thought out well at all and will be the last time I ever buy anything from Gateway. It's a glorified paperweight.

Trash bios and requires an online account to setup

Karen November 28, 2022

Trash if you don't want to use windows. Nothing will boot from usb even if configured through bios which is a very extremely limited bios. This machine is the bare minimum to run the bloatfest that's windows, but after many HOURS of trying I finally said whatever I'll use windows. But to even get to use windows you have to set up an online account. It's like I don't want an account! Just let me use the dang on thing! And people may think not being able to boot into linux or other option isn't important. it is if you need to recover your data or reinstall windows should something happen. If you got hit with a nasty virus or had an update break your system beyond repair, you're toast. Game over pal. This thing is going back unless I can install arch linux or opensuse on it.

Daniel May 14, 2023

I was barely able to perform the initial (very first) boot due to certain keys not working when pressed. After going through a hassle to complete the initial setup I connected a bluetooth keyboard. I didn't think much of it. It's not a big deal. Then the touchpad mouse quit working within less than 10 minutes. Unfortunately I didn't open it until after the return deadline. However, it's brand new out the box issues. It does come with a manufacturer 1 year limited warranty. I do not yet know if the warranty will cover the issues. If it is supposed to be covered it doesn't mean they will do so. If under warranty, and Gateway fixes it so I can actually use the computer I will give an updated review.
