It's always good to have a sanding sponge around the house. Now generally, I don't like sponges for wood because you're not guaranteed a flat finish as the sponge flexes. But in this case, we had some stuff explode on the inside of a drawer and it stained the drawer's back pretty bad. Yeah, it's the back, but it looked really crumby as the stain was dark red. Took off the front, then went at it with the sanding sponge. Have to admit, it was a lot quicker and easier than getting my palm sander out. It wasn't more than 20 seconds of sanding before the stain was gone. And since these cabinets aren't finished on the back anyway, that was the entire job. Boom, done. As for the sponge, you can see from the pictures it certainly did its job. Appears and feels to be of decent quality. I also used it to sand a few spindles down on an old chair. Spindles are awful to sand, but sponges do help. I'm not going to pretend it was a lot of fun, it wasn't, but it got the job done. And of course, any drywall patching these little sponges work like a million bucks to clean up excess dried spackling. And hey, as a bonus? It's made in the USA. That may or not mean much to you, but I like seeing it.
We are getting ready to paint our house and this little sanding sponge comes in handy for smaller areas to prep for the primer and then paint. The sponge is not too small yet small enough to hold onto securely. The angled edge and the two different grits make this sponge a versatile tool. It does not replace an electric sander for large areas but is very efficient and long lasting for smaller manual jobs.
I got the Gator 3 inch by 4 inch angled sanding sponge to Try and it actually works with all types of things my Hubby used on all kinds of wood working projects And it was a great attention instead of having to have a bunch of Tools definitely recommend.
For anyone that is still using regular sandpaper for hand sanding, I have a message for you: stop it; you're doing it wrong. Gator sanding sponges are 100% superior in every way to conventional sandpaper. Easier to use, easier to hold, longer lasting, more versatile--the list goes on and on. The dual angled sponge is perfect for getting into small tight areas and works great on wood or metal, for rust removal for example. Also this sponge has a different grit on each side---120 on one side and 180 on the other. It's even marked on the edge to tell you which side is which. These things are tough too; they don't crumble apart after a few uses, like some other sanding sponges I have used. I have already used this one for several small projects, and it's holding up great. The dual grit is so handy, you can work your surface with the 120, then just flip it over for a final sand before painting or staining. Another important thing for me...MADE IN USA. I can't see myself ever buying any other type of sandpaper ( except for machine sanding) or sanding sponges, the Gators are simply the best there is.
I used it to sand down where my daughter was chewing her crib so I could repaint it. I prefer this type of sanding sponge over traditional “paper”. It was easier for me to use. It looked great after repainting. I would recommend to anyone and would purchase again
I used this handy, little tool for sanding down spackled areas on my walls prior to painting. Smoothed down those rough areas like a charm. I didn't have furniture to recondition but I would imagine it would work just as wonderfully for sanding any wood/rough surface, as well. It fits right in to your palm and is super easy to use. I would recommend this to anyone doing home repairs, wood working or furniture reconditioning. Love it!
This dual angled sanding sponge is the most comfortable quality sanding sponge I have ever used. I refinish furniture as a hobby and freq do finish repairs on my favorite items. This sponge is comfortable in the hand, gets to the corners and is prob my fave go to to begin finish repair process. I highly recommend! The Gator sanding sponge is excellently made for sanding any surface. The dual grit of 120/180 comes with angled edges for ease of use, perfect for sanding flat and curved surfaces. The two softedge sections allows smoothing out corners easily. It's very easy and flexible to use for sanding wood, drywall and painted surfaces. This grit combo is in the middle between fine sanding and more abrasive sanding, and marked with arrows so you know which side is which grit. It's perfect for a basic sanding sponge to keep handy in your toolbox. You can also rinse the sponge out after usage and air dry for the next time you use it. Highly recommended for all your basic sanding needs.
I really liked this Gator Sanding Sponge, it was quite a difference from using sanding paper. It is so much easier to sand with a sanding sponge than paper which tends to scrape your fingers. I'll never use paper again and the sponge lasts so much longer then paper. I was sent this item by the Spark Reviewer Program for an honest review.
This Gatir sanding sponge is a great idea, but I honestly have to say I wasn't that impressed. I was quite excited and for as rough as the sponge felt I thought it would do a good job standing, but it just didn't have that power. I actually didn't really see where it did much. You really had to press and sand hard to even get a light sanding. I'm not saying it's not good or not worth a try. Try it out, it might be good for light touch up things.
