Gator 9713105 4.5 in Medium 36 Grit Flap Disc

I haven't used this disk wheel for months yet, but it has worked out well for me so far. I have used it to clean up rust on a few different parts. It did a great job with those items. As with most disks it can be aggressive in removing material if you don't pay attention. It also does a fine job of sharpening a lawn mower blade when it isn't so badly dulled that it would require a harsher grinding disk. To date it hasn't shown any significant signs of wear. That is impressive given the use that it has seen. It is well made, that much is apparent.

This is a great addition to any shop or garage. When used on a 4 inch grinder, it smooths and polishes any rough surface. It also grinds away rust and slag with ease. By applying less pressure you can polish metal to a nice shine. Apply more pressure to achieve a more aggressive cut.

Our wrought iron railings on our back stoop needed to be refinished again. But some areas needed the rusted spots sanded. The easiest way for my husband to do this was using his grinder with the Gator Grit 4.5 Zirconium Oxide Flap Disc Wheel, 60G On it. The disc is very simple to install on the grinder. The Gator Grit 4.5 Zirconium Oxide Flap Disc Wheel removed all the areas where the rust was coming through and was a nice smooth finish. Which was easy to then spray paint. This definitely is the best way to help remove rust off metal. With knowledge of course using safe precautions.

The Gator Grit 4.5 Zirconium Oxide worked really well on grinding the weld seams on a buggy frame. And it does well for removing rust and old paint. I am pleased by how versatile and durable these discs are. But if you're going to remove paint from a decent size area of concrete you might need more. They wear down faster on concrete.

I am a DIYer and enjoy making thing's.. I am not a professional at all by any means so please take my review with a grain of salt if you like please lol. This flap disk wheel have so many uses,This little tool is pretty amazing so I will be taking my time and definitely learning more about it! However so far what I can tell it sands very well , and works well sharpening blades too! And It takes off old rust and paint in a flash! I really enjoyed this product.

My husband is a carpenter by trade, a major do it yourselfer and a huge tool guy. He has almost every tool imaginable and all the accessories to go along with them. We have been noticing more and more items from the Gator Finishing brand line of products while we were shopping in store at Walmart. We were not really familiar with the brand nor did we know the quality of the products until I chose this Gator Grit 4.5-Inch Zirconium Oxide Flap Disc Wheel for my husband to try out. This flap wheel is 60 grit and is perfect for using on metal surfaces. My husband also tried it on a wooden surface but it was too rough and seemed to burn into the wood too quickly. He used this flap disk to sand down a large metal heavy duty fire barrel so that he could repaint it. It worked great. He used it with his 20V battery operated grinder and it fits perfectly. This flap disk made quick work of removing years of burn on rust and old paint. The disk held up well and did not tear or shred like some of the other more expensive brands that he has tried before. He managed to do the entire barrel with just one Gator Grit flap disk which still had lots of useable surface left for another sanding project. We will definitely be purchasing this product again and trying out other items from the Gator Finishing brand!

The Gator Grit Zirconium Oxide Flap Disc Wheel is 4.5 inches, 60 grit, works wonderfully. The products is essentially durable cloth abrasive flaps bonded to a fiberglass reinforced backing plate. The discs are very thin, but do not let size fool you - they are quality made! The product was very easy to install was I first received it. All I had to do, was remove the plastic center piece from the package and securely tighten the disc onto my angle grinder. The flap disc has worked great for many projects around the house. It provides heavy duty sanding and grinding of metal, wood, painted surfaces, and fiberglass. It is durable and reliable. So far, I have used it to remove paint and rust. I have also used it to carve out spaces. If needed, I have found that the product flattens down metal welded spots really quickly. If you use the disc at an angle, you are able to tell that it is more aggressive, whereas if you use it flat, it performs a bit slower. It is absolutely handy to have this product on hand for projects around the house. I would highly recommend this flap disc wheel.

The Gator 4 ½” flap disk makesThe Gator 4 ½” flap disk makes easy work of any sanding job. The 60grit wheel quickly removes rust and burrs and leaves surfaces clean. It's tough enough to remove the stubborn stuff but still leaves a smooth finish. This really does the job it is intended to.

I am reviewng the Gator Blade 4.5 inch Zirconium Oxide Flap Disc. This product "tool", is a heavy duty sanding and grinding disc with non-directional swirl inlaid in the disc finish. It consist of layered heavy duty-cloth flaps bonded and layered on a fiber glass re-inforced backing plate. It is available in three different grits; 36, 60 & 80. My test product was the 60 grit wheel. I tested the wheel with a DRILL-MASTER 4-1/2 inch angle grinder, 5/8 x 11 TPI spindle at 10,000 rpm and 4.3 amp power rating. These are very inexpensive and can easily be found anywhere. The disc is easy to install in the arbor. It was heavily offset, but did just tuck underneath the safety guard. The disc is very agressive looking and I was expecting no problem in sanding the rust off my wifes filing cabinet. But was concerned it may be to course to use without damage to the unit. In my opinion it is a very handy two function disc. Flat surface use did a fantastic job on the problem area. It actually did a good job leaving a very smooth, almost glass like finish to the metal. I turned it on it's side and the edge did a good job on trouble spots in other areas with very low visible scratching. Having worked in a manufacturing company working with welded metal pieces, I can readily see that this would be ideal for corner clean up on slag build up between welded pieces. It is not however, meant for cutting. Even turned on it's side, it was difficult to grind through a thin board I used as a test. As a sanding disc for heavy duty metal refinishing, it was excellent, but for cutting you will still need to change discs mid job. 4 out of 5 Stars.
