The best was the chocolate chip bar.The caramel bar was not good. These bars have plenty of protein to fuel your body after a vigorous workout. These would be great as a post work out snack or late start morning with little time for breakfast which is how I used it today. Very impressed. My biggest problems with protein bars are often the after-taste and the texture. Many bars have a protein powder aftertaste that makes eating them something I just have to "get through". Some also have a texture that makes me feel like I am chewing on leather and will never finish chewing the bite I took. That is not the case with this bar. This bar has great flavor and no aftertaste! The texture of it also makes it far more palatable. I would recommend this to someone that is looking for something to satisfy a chocolate craving and is looking to supplement their daily protein intake!
OK, what exactly does that title mean? If you spend 15 minutes on a treadmill or take a walk around the block - this is not the energy booster/replenisher for you. It's made by Gatorade, that should tell you something right off the bat. It's intended to replenish nutrients (and energy) after a significant effort - a game of basketball, a 5K run, or a serious cardio workout. Why? Because it contains sugar, sodium, and a bunch of other nutrients you burned off during your workout. In addition, it's a LARGE bar, coated in chocolate, and chocked full of "stuff". It takes the better part of 15 minutes just to finish one bar. If your workouts aren't exactly the heavy cardio type, you may want to cut the bar into smaller portions and eat them a piece at a time (they really taste quite good - and are available in a decent variety of flavors). They're also a bit on the expensive side (depending where you purchase them), another good reason for splitting them into smaller portions. Bottom line, I WOULD recommend them (in part, or as a whole). They're kinda like having an energy "meal" after a workout.
Being diabetic, I absolutely do not skip meals. Sometimes my errands keep me out beyond an anticipated time, so I have to eat in the car. Having these Gatorade Protein Recovery bars gives me pretty much everything I need to keep me functioning until I make it back home. I do have similar bars for short trips, but this one has the calories(360), carbs(41g) and protein(20g) of a full meal, that allow me to go a bit further without missing any nutritional requirements. They are actually huge and quite filling. As well as delicious!
Wow, where do I begin? These Bars are unbelievable, they are very tasty and give you a boost of energy when you need it. The best way for me to describe this product is it is like a Rice Crispy Treat on steroids. There is only one warning that I wish to pass along and that being that these are made from Whey which is a Dairy Byproduct and if you are Lactose Intolerant, as my daughter is you should NOT eat these, as they will cause you much stomach distress. Other than that one warning, these bars are great and I highly recommend them.
The Gatorade Recover Whey Protein Bar is huge and absolutely delicious for a protein bar! It literally taste like a candy bar with 29 grams of sugar I see why! With 20 grams of protein per bar, this bar is designed to help muscles recover so they were perfect for my son who loves to work out. I tried the chocolate chip and the caramel and they both are fantastic! Definitely pay attention to the nutrition facts to see if this product will work for your diet.
We tried the Chocolate Chip bars and the Chocolate Carmel ones. The chocolate caramel ones are a bit too sweet for my taste but both tasted pretty good and didn't have any after taste. I used them for after aerobics and on days when I didn't have time for breakfast. They do have a lot of saturated fats and carbs so if you're watching that area of your diet these probably aren't for you but if you aren't concerned with those then they're a good option
Unlike some of the other protein bars I have tasted in the past, Gatorade Whey Protein Recover Bars do not have a bad or bitter taste to them. I used the bars as a meal replacement and remained full. The assorted pack gave me a good variety and I alternated bars throughout the week so as to not grow tired of eating the same type of bar. The bars do not taste as great as a candy bar, but they are pretty good and provide protein in a tasty and healthy way.
The Gatorade Whey Protein Recover Bars, Variety Pack, 18 Count has 3 varieties. The protein level will give you the boost you need. Sugar in the Gatorade Whey Protein Recover Bars, Variety Pack, 18 Count a little higher than I like but not bad. I have a diabetic tendency but am not a true diabetic so I just have to watch what I eat. So with the Gatorade Whey Protein Recover Bars I just will eat 1/2 a bar at a time. The flavor is awesome too! I do recommend the Gatorade Whey Protein Recover Bars, Variety Pack, 18 Count, great for people who work hard like home builders or people weight lifting and need that protein boost.
I lift weights regularly and consume plenty of Whey Protein every day. I typically consume it in a powdered form with water or milk. However, I certainly see the advantage and the convenience of having a bar like this that you can grab and take with you anywhere, so I was glad to be able to try these out. The size of the bars seemed almost too big to me – at 2.8 oz and 360 calories, it is roughly 1.5 times the weight and calories as your average full size candy bar. So you definitely need to be careful with these if you are trying to keep your caloric intake in check – about half of one is a reasonable size snack. Also concerning is the amount of fat and saturated fat (50% of the recommended daily amount of saturated fat in 1 bar!). The 20g of protein is nice, but considering the calories and fat that go along with it, there may be better options out there. The taste is very sweet (a little too much for me, but others may like it). All in all, I will use these as an occasional sweet treat, or a quick and convenient way of getting some protein, but will stick with options that have a better protein to calorie ratio for the bulk of my protein intake.
You know the saying, if its too good to be true, it is . I tried a lot of them because I'm a slob. I'll forewarn you what you're getting into here because I care. A Super commercialized protein bar that relies on bran nonrecognition for the masses . Ill give you the "good" first : The only saving grace here is i'm partial to caramel. However in this line of product it's of a artificial kind ; The taste hits all points for heavy junk bar candy flavor . The texture is one positive ; of a nougat type , loose airy but rough and heavy texture due to the protein matter. Now the bad : Two glaring problems with this "food" protein bar ; 1. The sugar ; too much. 2. The low quality chocolate and caramel " flavor " slathered on and into these bars is criminal . ( People usually searching for protein supplements are increasingly mindful to avoid unhealthy ingredients. This is not an exaggeration when I tell you the sugar in just one bite, is overpowering . The ""chocolate"" if we can even call it that ; no doubt produced with dubious practices : hydrated oils that studies prove clog a body's receptors responsible for producing insulin . And will contribute to artery diseases if not careful . There is also BHT, added as a preservative. Not for the balanced health minded individuals. Tread carefully with how much sugar and processed oils are in this thing. Conclusion : So who is this for ? I have no idea, a neck beard Hulk perhaps. In a extreme survival situation when you have no other options on the market. If you are very regimented in your food and exercise routine where you have moments to cheat with junk food. . Generally overall I cannot recommend these to a health oriented person. Because there is a serious risk they wont be healthy for much longer.
