First off, I live in Florida, where its ALWAYS HOT! I had a 6000 BTU Frigidaire A/C that my landlord had installed in the 850 sq ft living room / kitchen area. I had another in a side bedroom and had to run them both to cool most of the house. I had expected this unit to improve the situation in the living room / kitchen area, but it has far surpassed my expectations. The unit was instantly cold from the first second it was turned on. The amount of air this unit blows out is enough to cool 65% of the house in a short time. Since it worked so well, I set it to Auto and it cuts off for an hour or so when the house is cool, and starts up again if it gets to warm. I cant say enough great things about this unit, I am once again comfortable in my home during the Florida SUMMERS. Awesome price + warranty. Cant beat it!
nice little unit for the money, very quiet and powerful .Money well spent.
It's a powerful, yet energy star rated, a/c with a nice, modern design, and not so bulky. It was a breeze to install, and I like the remote control.
I bought this to replace the one I had of another brand. this ac unit out blasts the other one by far!! it cools down my living room and dining room and kitchen to a cool 63*.. and these rooms are not small.. I lobve this unit and will buy another to cool my upstairs floor....
I live on the second floor of a very large old home, and the front rooms receive several hours of sunlight. The GE A/C is a champ at keeping my home cool. My floor plan is very open, but the unit runs efficiently and quietly to keep my home comfortable. The last unit I had kept blowing my fuses every time the unit cycled on and off; this unit does not blow circuits! This unit really packs a punch, it works better than any unit I have ever owned. I love that the A/C shuts off when the proper temperature is reached, and is an energy star appliance. My home can reach 90 plus degrees during the daytime, and my GE keeps the temp at 75 without any issues. I love my GE!
Bought this unit recently. It was very easy to install and operate. The directional vents allowed us to point the air where we needed it for the first good night of comfortable sleep we've had in a month! With its low energy consumption and remote control feature, I highly recommend it to anyone.
My central a/c went out while I was gone and my neighbor purchased this and put in a window to keep my house cool. I have an open floor plan and it worked great. My only complaint is there is no water drain on this unit and as it accumulated water it would slosh when running (fan would slosh water). Had I kept this unit in longer I would have drilled a hole to drain the water.
We bought this to replace an old second hand unit that had gave up and we wanted something bigger. Not real impressed wit the use of Styrofoam inside of it though. Our old was old and was all steel and black insulation inside. Don,t make stuff like they used to. Have only used it once and it worked well.
It does work...and cool the room we're using it in. However, it doesn't fit the window. It's not the size that's the issue. It didn't come with any adapters to make it fit...there are gaps. Every now and then it will only kick on for about a minute...which seems quite wasteful. Unless that's some sort of cycle??? I don't know.....but it will also run for 15-20 minutes most of the time. It just seems kind of strange... We've only had it for 2 days...it was cheap and small which was the deciding factor so....we'll see how long it will last.
I bought this unit July 4, 2015 and installed it in the garage. I didn't have any trouble with it until a week or so ago when it stopped cooling properly - less than a month after the warranty expired. Today I had to put it down to 64 to get it to blow cool air. Considering it has been used 6-7 months out of the approximate 13 months I've had it, I am considerably disappointed. I will not purchase a GE to replace it.
