[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very easy install. Exact replacement for old disposal.
Runs much quieter than the one it replaced and grinds very quickly. Instructions were complete and easy to understand making installation a breeze. I purchased a "cable clamp strain relief connector" since my old disposer didn't have one, otherwise all parts were included. This replaced a very old [16+ years] GE model that finally quit working. I'm confident this will last a long time too.
This is a fine disposal, more than adequate SINCE NONE OF US SHOULD BE GRINDING UP LARGE QUANTITIES OF ANYTHING! To protect the environment, we should only grind up scraps that go down the drain; larger amounts should be composted or put in the trash. So this small unit should meet all your needs. It is inexpensive, works for years, and will take care of all that anyone should put down it. It is easy to install with one caution: its predecessor model plugged into a regular socket; this one has to be hardwired. Other than that, installation is easy.
This disposal is replacing one that was bigger and borke down in about 5 years. I does a reaaly good job with little noise, and gets the job done. I am very happy so far with my purchase. The price was reasonable, and I would reccommend this disposal to anyone. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
This updated model for the 320F I had for 15 years; seems to be just as good. Time will tell of course. Install was very easy after watching a how to video. It took me just under an hour, but if i did this regularly I'd say 30-45min install as long as pbc pipes are in good condition, which i did remove and cleaned for good measure. Keep in mind you will have to reuse power chord from old disposal or buy new, and reuse insert ring for wiring to go through.
After selecting, purchasing and installing several replacement disposals in the past, we no longer wanted to do the installation ourselves and asked our local handyman to due the entire process. His choice was the GE. It has worked well. We do find that the rubber "sleeves" are so tight we have to repeatedly push the objects in.
Easy to install and quieter than my old 1/3 hp badger disposal. Good solid construction, outlet and lower chamber seems to be mostly dense, thermoset type plastic? vs. metal. It's a bit longer than my previous disposal, but thinner. I think the construction should make it last longer than most, I hope! The only reason I marked a 4 on performance is, the rubber drain guard seems to seal a bit and not let water pass easily. But very happy overall!
I have lived in a home without a disposal, so having one in my new house was a must. Unfortunately, water often backs up in the sink while using the disposal. Having to reach to the other wall to to turn on the disposal while in the middle of doing dishes it isn't ideal. It's better than nothing and certainly works but I wish it were a little more robust.
I changed my old device after five years of use. I bought the same brand an model, GE GFC320N, expecting to have it for another five years but it only lasted 2.5 years. I bought it again just because I am too busy to make the piping changes to replace this product for another brand. However, if this one doesn't last at least five years it will be the last product that I will buy from GE.
The installation instructions were poorly written. The nut screwdriver required would not fit into the area to loosen the screw because there wasn't enough space to get the head of the driver into the space allotted. Thus, I had to use needle nose pliers to loosen the screw.
