GE UCG1510NII 15 Inch Built-In Trash Compactor

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Needs outer handle to pull open. Does not feel right just stepping on the bottom handle. My older GE compactor bottom handle kept getting disconnected.

I've only had this a few day's so I cannot really give a good review. So far it does what it's supposed to do, Very easy to install My only complaint is that there is no drawer handle, but I knew this when ordering. I just used to the door handle from my old compactor. I'll get used to it.

It compacts well but the foot pedal is very hard to push to open. It is at an angle already so surface area is limited so takes a lot of effort to push. Also, takes a lt effort to close. I have to push with foot to get it to close fully. It also doesn't close flush even though measurements indicate that it should.

GE compactor- In use for just over 2 1/2 years and the foot pedal/ lever piece attached to bottom metal rail has worn through. No real way to repair the hole that the pedal screw goes through as it's integral to the whole main body part of the compactor. No way to open compactor or compact trash without foot pedal:( Our old compactor worked years and years with no such issues!! Very expensive GE compactor to last less than 2 1/2 years!!

This is an inferior model to the one I had for 25 years. Compaction is no where near the old one. There are no bags that fit this. The only way to activate this is by foot control, which will not last very long. Foot pedal is plastic. Not a good design

I had this trash compactor less than 3 years when it stopped working. I was able to repair it the first time and got another year out of it and then it failed again, this time it was not worth repairing. It seems to me something this expensive should have lasted a great deal longer. I felt I had to purchase another because it was the only unit that worked with the custom panel I had invested in. I hope I have better luck this time. I bought an extended warrenty just to be safe.

This is my second unit. I like a trash compactor but this unit has a construction flaw. After a short period of time the bolts on the foot pedal wear thru the thin metal barrier. I needed to weld a washer to the existing metal for a fix. Unfortunately there are not a lot of options for trash compactors

The first one lasted less than 3 years. Poor compunction and very loud. Does NOT have solid pack feature. I only bought another one because the extended warranty replaced it for the same money but I had to pay the difference plus delivery and installation. I will never have another one from GE. 👎

The drawer doesn't open all the way with the foot pedal. Have to use hands to open and close and without a handle there are constant finger prints on appliance. poor design. If I could give this a zero I would have. Think I'm done with GE products. seems they skip the R&D. Put a high price on it . Overpriced piece of junk.

bought this unit to replace the previous one after the motor died. the new unit worked great until I noticed the foot pedal on the drawer hanging lose! upon further inspection I discovered the metal cutout the pedestal screwed into broke off! So basically, the while unit is affected because of a very small piece of metal, Sad :(
