Nightlight that Works in a Power Outage

mickie March 19, 2026

This is a great night light. It is a plug in that is also a rechargeable light. During a power outage the light automatically comes on. You can leave stationary or carry as a flashlight. The design is attractive and it gives more light than a traditional nightlight.

Great nightlight

Linda March 22, 2026

By far the best nightlight for safety. It illuminates the hall and bathroom so the pathway is clear to see but is not so bright that it's blinding when you open your eyes. Plus the emergency flashlight function has already come in handy during a power outage. It casts a warm white blow that is easy on the eyes.

Don't get caught in the dark

Roy February 6, 2026

While I think these are a little over-priced, I'm so happy with them that I bought 2 more of them when I moved to a bigger place. I have one in the bathroom, one in a hallway, and one in the laundry room. These are in my areas without windows and we all know we don't want to be on the throne when the bathroom goes dark due to a power failure.

Absolutely worth the purchase! Great value for the price. You can adjust the setting as well as when the power goes out, they will stay on. Just unplug it and you have a flashlight. Honestly, I wish I would've bought it sooner.

It doesn't lose its charge overnight.

Elaine March 15, 2026

Sometimes I turn off the power overnight to the surge protector where the emergency light is plugged in. A different brand's light would go out before I woke up to turn the power back on to where it was plugged in. Glad this brand works.

GE Night Lights

Melster November 4, 2025

So far, so good! The night light alone is great. I took the unit out of the receptacle, and the flashlight lights up well. As for power outages, I cannot say for sure, but I think it will give ample light for short outages not extended outages. I bought extra for Christmas presents! 🙂

A must have in any home!

Albert July 3, 2020

Ive had 2 of these in my home for years. Whenever the electricity goes off, theyll stay illuminated for hours upon hours. Recently we had a power outage for 6 hours and both lights stayed illuminated the entire time without dimming. Plus the fact that you can unplug them and use them as either a table light or the really bright flashlight is so genius! I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY reccomend!

Nice power outage emergency lighting

Papaw September 10, 2025

I am using it in conjunction with a power outage alarm. This fixture works as a night light, flash light, portable lantern, and a power outage light depending on which options you choose. I require supplemental oxygen 24 hours a day and needed an power outage alarm and a light incase of pitch darkness. My oxygen concentrator operates on house current but during a power outage I have oxygen tanks or a portable battery operated unit. This light works excellent just as described.

Great nightlight and backup light!

Erin November 8, 2022

I bought these over a year ago when we were having rolling blackouts during heatwaves in the summer and I have been recommending them to everyone. Some of the reviews express difficulties getting them to work, but I tend to think they don't have them in the right mode for what they want them to do, including being a sensor nightlight. When I plug them in I do it during the day so I can test the sensor easily. I cover the light sensor and press the button on the side until it comes on with my finger covering the light sensor, and then goes off when I'm not covering it. It is also during this adjustment that you pick the level of light you want as a night light. And keeping then plugged in as normal nightlights is how they maintain their charge for a power outage. I have 4 in my house, and all 4 make great nightlights to navigate the house at night without turning lights on, and that's using the dimmest setting. Then when there are power outage issues they automatically come on, and they can be brightened for more illumination, used as a flashlight, and moved around anywhere in the house where you need the illumination during a power outage as they are charged and don't need electricity. You can also turn them off during a power outage during the day to conserve the charge. If any of the others that had trouble getting them to work read this, try testing it while changing modes. It also comes with instructions for all this in the package.

Needs motion sensor!

ResearchEngineer November 1, 2025

The unit was everything that I was expecting, except for one thing; when set to night-light, the night-light stays on regardless of whether someone is in the vicinity or not! In other words, if the room is dimly lit, the night light is on. It doesn't need to sense a person or movement to be on.
