We've had a great experience with the dehumidifier so far. We had a smaller unit that worked for a while, but needed to be replaced so we opted to purchase this model since it had better ratings and offered greater water removal. We've had it for about a month now and it's had great performance.
The 50 pint dehumidifier works well so far, been in service in my basement several weeks. One strong suggesion: the advertising for the GE humidifiers does not clarify how often they are suggesting you empty them, which gives a false idea of how big a unit you need in the real world. I bought the 25 pint first, expecting the CAPACITY to be 25 pints. It's less. So I had to return it to get a dehumidifier that I only have to empty once a day. Who empties them 2-3 times a day?
WOW it really pulls out all the moisture and humidity out of my condo= my coverage is 1099 square footage. By end of day the bucket if 3/4 full and I dump it and turn off the dehumidifier around 4:30pm so that the water can drip and then IU dump it around 5:30pm. No more bedroom closet door sticking. Which is was quieter and had more selection to it. After a while it does make it hot inside my condo.
This is by far the best dehumidifier I have purchased. So quiet, the pump is direct to hose so you don't need to clean out weekly the bucket because it fills with water and then pumps out. It works so well at getting the humidity out of the air in my 1200 sq.ft condo. I could not believe how fast it did it. I have it in my living room and the hose snakes to my toilet. Easy peasy. The price was excellent considering the size and that it has a pump. Don't hesitate to purchase this unit.
Recently purchased, has done a great job removing the moisture in the air. Our home feels so much cooler. Our homes humidity high 70 to 80 percent, now it is running 50 to 60 percent. With just 1 unit for our house of 2000 square feet. Excellent
Quick delivery, easy setup, fairly quiet even at high speed fan setting, effective. But honestly I've only been operating for about two weeks so far....let's review 50 weeks from now!
I purchased this GE product to replace the same model that failed after five years. Works well until it loses its coolant. Now GE is owned by Haier. Not holding my breath that it will outlast the first.
On one hand it is quiet and pulls pulls a tremendous amount of water out of the air. On the other hand the alternative gravity hose drainage solution does not work. The tank continues to fill. The access to the gravity hose drain out put is small and difficult to attach.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It has no problem removing humidity from the air. The hygrometer switch that should cycle the unit off and on is faulty. When I set the unit at 45% it won't shut off. When it gets down to 30% I have to shut it off manually or it will just continue to run. The specs said an error of +/- 5%. That is 15 % and still running. I basically have to run it manually by turning it off and on. I am going to be contacting GE per my warranty on the unit. Noise is average compared to the past units I have owned. None of them are quiet, even on low speed. It is not Energy Star certified, so I'm not sure of energy consumption.
I bought the dehumidifier because of the pump however the pump does not work continuously reverts to manual or P1 shoes. I have to unplug for 40 sec and the pump may or may not work again P1 shows. Ver disappointed
