GE APPLIANCES GFW850SPNRS

Great washer, nice appearance, multiple functions... Unfortunate failure of main computer board that was not covered by any warranty. Unit GFW850SPN2RS SN MS307710N was just coming up on fourth birthday. Had expected many more years of service, but no dice. Cost of repair was nearly 75% of original purchase. Stayed with GE and replaced with matching unit - the PFW870SPV0RS SN GD325465N. Did not need the additional expense at this time, but who ever does.

Washing machine broke 1 month past the 4 year warranty i paid for. Stops spinning. The inside hoses started leaking water down into the pedestal. Something this expensive should last longer than 4 years

I’ve had this washer for four years. In that time I’ve tried a multitude of different detergents and washer settings: automatic detergent dispensing, manual, cold water, hot water, warm water, extra soil level, low soil level, you name it. Not once have my clothes ever come out smelling clean. At best they smell like nothing, and at worst they just smell a little bit like stale body odor. This is across all fabric types and is not related to the funk that “active wear” can get. Mostly I’ve felt like I’ve been walking strong wearing dirty clothes for years. Certainly not worth the premium price as it barely performs its main function.

Started leaking water stopped then again do not recommend to purchase & try to reach manufacturer for warranty good look you have better luck winning the lottery

After 20 months with this machine, it broke 3 times within a span of 6 weeks. The machine would start, get everything wet, and then stop, leaving everything soaking wet inside. Parts kept having to be replaced. The 3rd time the machine locked and would not release the clothes inside, and after this none of the buttons or functions would work. it's totally dead, and the dealer/GE refused to take ownership and we had to buy a new unit (from a different manufacturer!)

We have had to replace parts each year on this washer and it's only 3 years old. When it works-it's great. Buyer beware with this particular model as you will end up getting a new one sooner than the 10 years as its parts that aren't covered and getting the parts is worth more than a new unit. There are only 3 people in our household. We have reached out to GE and haven't heard back.

We bought this product in March 2024. Just after 2.5 years, the machine stopped working, with the control and inverter boards failing. Repairs cost >$600. This product deserves a rating below 1 star.

Found out that this machine has two different boards and one of them needs to be replaced at year 4. Costing about 50% value of a new machine with service charge, parts, and labor. What’s really disappointing is that there’s no way to prevent the boards from failing. We can do everything right and it’s still out of our control. It can fail again month from now. We will never purchase GE appliances again.

I brought this product in Jan 2024. The control board was broken in 2025 (I had it replaced for free), and the inverter board broke again in 2026, which I had to pay ~500 to get it replaced. I would NOT recommend this product.

I have had this washer for approximately 2 to 3 years and it has already broke down. I have spent the last eight weeks with an appliance service trying to fix this item and they have installed three control panels, a new door lock, and a new motor and my washer is still not working. I paid so much money for this washer and for to last such a short period of time, it was not worth my money. Once one issue begun, additional issues have a rose.
