GE APPLIANCES GSS23GGPWW side by side freestanding refrigerator

Very spacious & nice looking refrigerator. The only drawback is that the freezer area is a little smaller than I'd have liked. The refrigerator food section is spacious. Nice looking appliance.

We've had the fridge for a while now and it works well. We bought this based on online recommendations. Additionally we needed a fridge that was a bit narrower than the standard fridge and this fills the bill. It was a bit on the higher than most and I had to trim the bottom of the cabinet that was mounted above it.

Because of space limitations, this model replaced basically same GE model. Miss the mid level slide out deli tray for small items old model had. Side light in refrigerator improvement over older model. An identical side light on freezer side would be an improvement. A compact LED light and water filter increased top shelf space.

I am especailly happy about the energy saving since we have problems with the electric grid in our area. The refrigerator is really handsome --- love the "dark" stainless steel doors. Also like the "control" panel on the front --- makes it really easy to check/change temperatures. This item is in our second home so we are not there all of the time. This was top rated and we know we can depend on it. The installation team was awesome!

So far loving it! The lighting is really great they have additional lighting half way down the fridge near the outside - helps seeing the lower shelves! Cleaner lines on the inside than my older one (same type). Only thing could have been better - keeping the deli drawer. But I bought a bin for cheese and lunch meats. But would have been nice to still have a deli drawer.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall I love my new side by side. The two things I don't care for is 1) There is no snack or deli drawer. In the GE profile side by side that this replaced this option was used for cheese and lunchmeat and we loved it. 2) The door bin "A" shows being installed high above the ice maker in the instructions #225D3791P163; however, the slides to attach it are located at the bottom of the top section of the freezer compartment. When you install it there it hits against the icemaker and the door won't close.

Freezer capacity is on the small side, and fridge could use a deli drawer in addition to the shelving. I'm annoyed by the small volume of water the filter will handle before requiring replacement with a GE brand filter.

The red filter light goes off when I try to get water from the door. The filter came with the fridge and is only 5 days old. Water will not dispense from the door when the red filter light is on. Which means the water dispenser is currently useless.

It's impossible to put the drawers back without putting dents in the side. I have never had refrigerator that I couldn't easily clean out. This was so hard. I got a smaller refrigerator but no had no idea that it would be so challenging. I can't even put of the big drawers back in. I have to wait for my husband to come home to help me tilt the refrigerator forward so the door will open wider. Don't get this.

GE puts RFID readers in their fridge to stop people from using counterfeit water filters. And when this RFID reader fails, it stops you from using genuine GE water filters. This means you can't use YOUR fridge which you paid for to dispense WATER or ICE unless you pay them hundreds of dollars.
