My second Opal 2.0 so I definitely recommend buying an insurance plan.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Super easy to set up and install. Was making ice within 20 minutes. Ice is super soft and crunchy. Almost like shaved ice. Machine is very quiet compared to other ice makers I have used. Sounds a bit louder than normal fridge.

Ice maker does what it's supposed to do, which is make ice nuggets. No issues there, but this maker does make A LOT of noise. It definitely lets you know either that it's in the process of making ice or if it needs a cleaning of sorts. So if you're not worried about some noise, than this is yours. Haven't had any other problems with this.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wifi connection is a pain. 2 calls and still wasn't working with the advice just being to unplug and plug it in. Super kind help however, and the ice…. Really great. Can't beat it. Sonic ain't got nothing on this thing. I think I'll want to buy the extra reservoir to up capacity and production without refills. Ice basket is perfect size, and noise is minimal. Wifi install instructions and app are the only weakness. Perfect when they work, but getting them to work. A pain. Oh and final thing. Why is the app not called GE???

Ice is great but every few days it makes a TERRIBLE grinding noise. Have to unplug, let stand then plug back in. Contacted GE and just get some troubleshooting ideas. They definitely know this is an issue with this machine.

Let me start off by saying I LOVE my ice machine. I had to knock off two stars due to the longevity of the machine. Mine went out and I was told the life expectancy is only 15 months. When reading the reviews people's lasted from right under a year to right under a year. With that being said, seems as if GE will extend their warranty another year, if the life expectancy of the machine is only 15 months and due to the cost of the machine.

It works but it has issues right off the batt getting stuck and blinking cleaning all the time. Cannot fix it with all the techniques the trouble shooting tells you to do. Not very happy with it. Wouldn't buy again.

We received the box and it was beat up pretty bad. I was hesitant to keep it. Then we plugged it in and it started making horrendous squealing noises, almost although it was older. I'm still going to try to return although it's a day over the return window.

I bought one years ago. I assume it was the opal 1.0. It was great , worked well until it just didn't. Decided to buy a new one. I've had two of the opal 2.0 in the last 2 months. I returned the first 2.0. Kept turning it self off, always says cleaning. Replacement is doing the same thing. The 2.0 stinks. New and improved is not always a good thing.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Recently purchased and now it is making a very noticeable chirping noise, like there is a small bird stuck inside. The noise is only when the machine is making ice but it is still quite annoying. It wakes my wife up at night.
