[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the dishwasher. It is quiet and it does a great job. The installation went great and I couldn't be happier with the GE product. GE to me means quality appliances that you will have for years to come.
Like most reviewers, this machine does feel cheaply made. I came here to find the manual because my apartment installed this unit a few days ago. It had ran fine the first but second time we ran it, everything was still soaking wet. Looks like the 1 hour is just a rinse cycle so there is no soap dispensed or drying function. So I ran the machine again in Normal and waited for the Clean light to come one. Dishes came out clean and dry. Moral of the story, read the manual. Lol. This unit replaced a much sturdier but older dishwasher that we used for 12 years. It cleans just fine. Eventhough it's quite basic with no separate buttons for steaming or drying, it just means it will use less energy and I will air dry the items more often. Not a deal breaker. Just happy to have a functional dishwasher!
I have had better "feeling" dishwashers at this price point, but, apparently times have changed. When I open the door on this thing it just feels flimsy, thin, cheap plastic, feels like I can break the door, other than that, it has 3 cleaning cycles, it does the job well as far as I am concerned, it's all I need, just wish the door "felt" better, but this does not effect functionality. It does clean well as long as you follow "dishwasher rules" and the owners manual, install is simple.
This product was very cheaply made. The rack is almost too small and the wheels don't line up on the rail so you have to center it for it to move back and forth. I wish I paid for the upgrade. Only reason it got three stars is it actually cleans the plates and cups.
It is quiet and cleans dishes well. The cycles are adequate, and are simple to use. Installation was quick with no issues. There are very few features, such as drop down shelf for serving spoons or utensil basket cover to keep small items from flying around while washing. The racks are quite cheap and flimsy and dishes clank around when pulled in or out to load due to the very lightweight wire racks, and first dish loaded bangs on the sides of the dishwasher, as it is angled to close to the edge. I do not believe the racks will hold up for long, and sure the prongs will break off soon. I hope replacements are available if needed in the future. Also, the capacity is not equal to my old dishwasher, although the same measurement.
Dishwasher makes very noticeable intermittent buzzing sounds during wash cycles. Panel on dishwasher makes a loud noise due to door panel vibrating off and on during the wash cycles. Dishwasher motor makes an irritating humming noise. The interior sides and the back of the door remain dripping wet at the end of the normal dry cycle. The dishes are dry but the dishwasher has be left open for several hours to dry after the dishes are remove. The dishwasher does clean well but the items mentioned cause it to be an undesirable product for the kitchen.
I did not select this dishwasher myself; it was purchased and installed by the management company of my apartment community. This dishwasher is so cheaply made. Mine is brand new, and from the get-go, the bottom rack constantly falls off the tracks whether it's full of dishes or empty. I actually dread using it! Three different repair people have looked at it, and they all say nothing is broken. The bottom rack is just to narrow to stay on the tracks (which is weird since it's the wrack that is made for this machine). Now the maintenance team will be calling the manufacturer to have them come out. I do NOT recommend this washer.
Very cheap quality. Don't like the heat dry and no way to turn it off. My electric bill skyrocketed. Doesn't clean as well as it says. The manual says to just scrape dishes, but the dishes don't come out clean and with the heat dry, it dries the food on.
I just wanted to share my dissatisfaction of my new dishwasher. The lower rack rollers are spaced so close together that the rollers actually get wedged between the rollers and the roller tracks, and jams halfway into the machine. When the rack is loaded, it gets stuck, and your dishes fall out of the rack. what a terrible design. There is no way to adjust the rollers to prevent this from happening. I have become so frustrated with this, that I prefer to wash the dishes in the sink, old school style. Don't buy this machine. What kind of company doesn't test their product before putting it on the market? I can't believe they mass produce this piece of crap and actually put their name on it. Congratulations GE, you have cheapened your product so much, that it has become worthless. It easier to do the task manually. If GE had a rating less than 1, this machine would be there. If GE manufactures jet engines the way they make dishwashers, my flying days are over as well.
At first, I liked this new GE dishwasher (model# GDF450PSR3SS). While inexpensive, it was quiet, efficient, and cleaned the dishes to a shine (even lasagna pans and slow-cooker pots). But after a month, it began to slowly become louder, although the cleaning continued more-or-less unaffected. Well, a few months later, I started noticing little red rust marks inside many of the dishes and silverware. I'd find myself wasting a lot of time closely inspecting "washed" dishes and re-washing or polishing them as necessary by hand. Eventually, I took a magnifying glass to the inside of the dishwasher, looked closely at the tines of the top rack, and realized the very top of many of the tines were rusting! I really had to look closely to see this! I then looked over the bottom rack and noticed weird imperfections (that looked like little indentations) on both the topside of the rack and underneath. And even more of the rusty-tipped tines! Turns out that any such tines that touched the dinnerware pieces would transfer a single red speck of rust to that location. Annoyed, I learned to place tall items over those tines, and loaded silverware in a way that kept them as far from those areas as possible. This seemed to work okay, at least for a short while. None of that matters now. Both racks are now consumed with rust. Those little indentations I saw on the bottom rack are all bubbled up, opened and rusty. It's disgusting. And I'm disappointed.
