GE GFW550S 28" Wide 4.8 Cu Ft. Front Loading Washing Machines Washer - White

This is my second machine(same one in 2 years…the board went out on my first one and something else…it was cheaper to buy a new one then fix the 2 years old one…very disappointed in that…but I do love how the machine cleans my laundry! Better not happen again

Clothes come out feeling and smelling clean, even when using cold water. The capacity was bigger than I needed, but I'm very happy with extra space for blankets when washing. I was pleasantly surprised that this washer had optional door direction change. My location for set up is opposite normal set up. The machine is working flawlessly so far. I didn't need WiFi options for “smart” wash, and will probably never use that!

I really loved my washing machine. Unfortunately, it only lasted 3 years before the repair bill was near the cost of the machine. This time I got it on sale and added the extended warranty. I can't afford to be without a machine so I hope this one holds up better.

As a first time front-load washer user, I am sold on the front-load machine. I love the amount of items the unit can wash. It truly cleans the clothes better than any machine I have owned. I like the built in ventilation when not in use and door is closed so mold will not occur.

Keep in mind that it will be delivered by semi truck and will be dropped in your yard strapped to a pallet. It will be your responsibility to get the item into your house and install it. Otherwise great item.

Door lock broke after 18 months! It's only a one year warranty. I feel scammed. Replaced the door lock and it didn't fix the issue. Now I'm reading about needing to replace the inverter panl and mother board. Looks like I need to ditch GE and get a Speed Queen. Reliability is more important that wifi connectivity.

We purchased this Front Load washer 18 months ago. We like the way it washes clothes and uses less water, but we have had to replace the electronics board once and now the spin will not work which typically means drain motor needs replaced or the new board is going again. Our last GE front load lasted 12 years. We either received a lemon or they do not make them like they use too.

Bought this in 2024. Worked fine for about 2 years, then the door suddenly stopped unlocking, and it wouldn't drain. Just sat there clicking. I cleaned the drain, still no change. Repair guys came out and said it was the main control board, inverter, and door lock all failing. Repairs would be the same cost as the original unit price. I contacted GE to see if they would perform the repairs since it was so new, no dice. So after 2 years we were forced to replace it. I will never buy a GE machine again. Extremely disappointed.

This washer has required service 4 times in the 2 years we have had it . With 2 in the family and minimal usage it has been the most costly and undependable washer I have ever owned.
