We use this washing machine in a high volume spay/neuter clinic. Laundry is very dirty and nonstop. This Washing Machine has proved to be a work horse. Better than any Machine we have ever had in 17 years of being open. Machine is dependable and gets our laundry clean. I would recommend it for anyone who doesn't like repair bills and wants their laundry clean after the first wash.
After reading about the new GE Commercial washers and dryers on the Martin Appliance Website, we went to our local store in Jacksonville Florida, and compared to the Speed Queen washer side by side and I love the new GE .. they are built like a Tank! with a 5 year warranty they compete with Speed Queen, but the 10 year warranty on the Motor beats the SQ.. With a better price, better quality and better warranty GE Commercial Laundry is the only way to go!
Upgraded from a Kenmore circa 1999 that finally needed to be replaced. I didn't want a high efficiency, but that's all that's available now. This one is great! The basket is larger than my Kenmore, so clothing is spread out more while washing. I wash most loads on High or Max water level - I'm used to that old school top loader that washes and rinsed thoroughly. Everything is washing and rinsing cleanly. Who knew that I didn't really have to beat up my clothes to get them clean.
Not sure of exact year purchased but it's not that old. Started having trouble with it going off balance. I would spread clothes out but it would bunch them up and wouldn't wring out. I would have to select drain & spin numerous times. Got fed up and bought a new one
I have owned this washing machine for under 3 years. It has already needed repairs 3 times. First the pump needed to be replaced. Then the belt. We are currently awaiting the parts to replace the suspension. Yes, all of this has been covered under the warranty. But the inconvenience of waiting for repairs is not great. As for the performance of the machine, I'm not a fan. Unless you select "extra rinse" there is no guarantee that it will fill and rinse (it randomly substitutes a spray while spinning as the rinse). If you select "extra rinse" then you always get two full rinses. I really just want one rinse every load. It goes out of balance often. Sometimes at the end of the cycle the clothes are still sopping wet, and then I need to do an extra drain and spin. Every time you open the lid it sprays extra water in the tub, even if you are trying to balance a load that is on a spin cycle.
This washing machine has been my worst adult purchase to date. It lasted just over 4 years and of course my warranty ended at 3. Leading up to the failure the machine was never better than my 90s washer that I replaced. It was louder, was difficult to clean when the smells got bad. Overall would never purchase a GE product ever again. The issue seems to be motor related as it got loud for about a minute and then just stopped spinning/agitating and now no sounds during the spin cycle at all. Complete trash spend your dollars elsewhere.
This washer is uses a minimal amount of water necessary to clean the clothes, relying on agitation. The clothes do not get clean, they are often still soiled after a wash, sometimes not even wet, and need to be rewashed, ultimately using more water than low efficiency machines. Basket has rust spots after just one year.
I am sure the washer has the capacity. The drum is huge. If only it would fill up. It must be a Biden washer where your expected to wash a bedspread in 8oz of water.
I have had this machine 4 months. I'm a stay at home mom with 2 kids and lots of pets. I know all the rules of laundry, I'm not messing up. From day one this machine has not worked properly. 1. When washing heavy items such as towels or mats it gets unbalanced and attempts to rebalance itself which almost never works. This ends up wasting tons of water. It totally negates the fact that the gov't is regulating the water consumption on these things. 2. My towels are wet enough to wring out after the end of the cycle. Which is making my dryer take forever to dry. I've taken to hanging them on the line rather than using my fancy matching dryer. 3. No soak cycle. OMG, Why GE??? 4. My clothing stinks after washing. Nothing smells truly clean. I use no scents of any kind so there's no masking. 5. After 4 months our repair person is replacing the stainless steel basket, giving it new rods and springs. How could this possibly be considered commercial quality. I can't wash dog beds, pillows, cotton bathroom mats in this thing. It's impossible. If this were in a commercial setting, how would this be a viable option? Either our family got a complete dud or there is some major reengineering that needs to take place. I don't feel like its overly loud. Looks fine. Happy with the chirpy little "I'm done signal" Had to be removed from our home to fix. I'm not getting it back. Definitely switching to speed queen.
We have had this machine for almost three years. A small family of three so not a huge demand placed on it. Machine sounds like an old school lottery ball spinner on spin up and spin down. Sounds like grok grok grok. Started about a year after purchase. Seems to be getting worse. Currently trying to get repair set up.
