GE GTW720BPNDG 4.8 Cu. Ft. Gray Top Load Electric Washer

O.M.G. I feel like this is my first "Grown-up, not hurting for money" washer. Never in my life have I had a washer that has buttons specifically made to take out stains such as blood, wine, and grass stains. The dispensing mechanism it's pretty cool and purposeful. It's nice when you can add whatever you need to and know that it's going to get dispensed and dispersed properly. I have top loader washing machines before but they usually have an agitator cuz I always thought that that cleaned clothes better but this one doesn't and it works so much better. And the amount of clothes that I can actually put into the washing machine is unreal it's capacity is huge. I swear I can fit 3 of my laundry bins in one load whereas my last one could ony fit one. Its a magic machine that uses less energy and actually cleans better. Oh, and it's pretty darn quiet as well. It doesn't bother me at all.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Door to my top loader broke along the side where the hinge is. Plastic casing has been chipping and metal hinge has been coroding. How and why? You tell me GE. Plus deep fill doesn't look like it fills an adequate amount of water.

Only lasted 5 to 6 years. Grey chunks developed as pieces of the basket. This indicates that the bottom of the basket is deteriorating. The basket has failed. Will cost more to repair than a replacement. Functional, does clean well, energy efficient but doesn’t last long making it wasteful in another way.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don’t know if it actually completely functions correctly. I have yet to see a video of it working to compare mine to. It barely agitates the salesman knew nothing about it when we bought it we just needed one because our washer died. Hoping this one will be the one with the Jets that pushes the clothing around . It gets most clothing clean but we can not overload it. Some clothing still has powder spots from the detergent on them. Re wash etc,

I've only had the washer a few years and the lid lock sensor already does not work and won't allow me to start a cycle. When I had looked at reviews before buying they had said the washer would last 10-14 years but I've only had it for 6 and it's already going to need expensive repairs. I called GE and was told the 10 year warranty does not cover faulty lid locks. Very disappointed and will look into purchasing from a different brand next time.

Horrible! Always off balance even though I checked it and it is level! Can’t wash mor than 1 blanket and even then it might take 2 hours of me constantly trying to balance it! Hate it! Hit drain and spin and it just adds more water . Finally getting a different brand! I am getting one with agitator

Worst purchase we have made. This machine cannot handle large loads, even though I'm careful not to overfill it and always place clothes in evenly. The dispenser does not work well and I often find streaks from fabric softener. I expected better from GE, after only 6 years, it has begun to leak from the top and start and spin on its own. After research I now know this is a common known issue and the valve has to be replaced. I have taken care of this washer, and with only two people in our house hold it has not been subjected to heavy use. I am extremely disappointed with this washer and would not recommend it to others.

When doing bulky items like towels small blankets or small doggy pillows this machine has such a hard time balancing it is the most annoying and frustrating experience. The times I spent manually re-distributing the weight of wet blankets and towels. This is a highly defective design and machine.

Since the original purchase of this product, I have found it lacking. It is impossible to know how much to add to the machine on most cycles. The main driving force behind this is the machine’s complete inability to load balance. I noticed it with towels, sheets, and regular clothes. It seems to be independent of what is placed inside, the amount of water added, or any extra rinse cycles. The only way to fix it, is to remove all of the items from the tub, and re-add them about a third back at a time. Keeping in mind that covers my bathroom floor from the dripping towels because it doesn’t spin the water out properly. The concept of rebalancing by wasting water is ridiculous (add water, agitate, try again and repeat.). If we're looking to decrease kilowatt usage, why would be increase our amount of water usage because this thing won’t load balance. No wonder it only was produced for a short period of time.

The lid keeps breaking. The hinges crack the plastic to much. We have to replace it every other year.
