GE GTW720BPNDG 4.8 Cu. Ft. Gray Top Load Electric Washer

O.M.G. I feel like this is my first "Grown-up, not hurting for money" washer. Never in my life have I had a washer that has buttons specifically made to take out stains such as blood, wine, and grass stains. The dispensing mechanism it's pretty cool and purposeful. It's nice when you can add whatever you need to and know that it's going to get dispensed and dispersed properly. I have top loader washing machines before but they usually have an agitator cuz I always thought that that cleaned clothes better but this one doesn't and it works so much better. And the amount of clothes that I can actually put into the washing machine is unreal it's capacity is huge. I swear I can fit 3 of my laundry bins in one load whereas my last one could ony fit one. Its a magic machine that uses less energy and actually cleans better. Oh, and it's pretty darn quiet as well. It doesn't bother me at all.

Only lasted 5 to 6 years. Grey chunks developed as pieces of the basket. This indicates that the bottom of the basket is deteriorating. The basket has failed. Will cost more to repair than a replacement. Functional, does clean well, energy efficient but doesn't last long making it wasteful in another way.

It barely agitates the salesman knew nothing about it when we bought it we just needed one because our washer died. Hoping this one will be the one with the Jets that pushes the clothing around . It gets most clothing clean but we can not overload it. Some clothing still has powder spots from the detergent on them. Re wash etc,

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Door to my top loader broke along the side where the hinge is. Plastic casing has been chipping and metal hinge has been coroding. How and why? You tell me GE. Plus deep fill doesn't look like it fills an adequate amount of water.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For the size of the washer I would've thought I'd have been able to load more laundry without any serious issues, but there is a very fine line between just right and overloading it, but when it does act up it doesn't like to empty all the way out. It can get pretty loud and will walk around if you overload it as well.

When doing bulky items like towels small blankets or small doggy pillows this machine has such a hard time balancing it is the most annoying and frustrating experience. The times I spent manually re-distributing the weight of wet blankets and towels. This is a highly defective design and machine.

Extremely disappointed. Poorly made- the cheap plastic on the doors of washer AND dryer and cracking and breaking off. Washer lid is almost unusable and need to replace. Last washer & dryer lasted 20 years and this set isn't even lasting 2 years! Also doesn't wash clothes as well as previous GE set.

horrible product- spins off balance on most large loads of towels or comforters and end up having to do multiple drain spin cycles with trying to rebalance each time, then today, a load finished and i put it in to the dryer loaded up the washer for the next load and closed the lid and went to set the proper cycle and the control board went out and will not come back on. I do hear a sound of a motor running though but nothing happening

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Like all the bad reviews, it does not spin correctly due to imbalances. Yes, I load properly around the impeller. No, I do not over load the machine. It is on level ground. I bought 5 years ago and have noticed this since then. Nothing I do helps with towels, sheets, or blankets. This does not occur with every load, just bulky single items every time. Towels are a hit and miss. The machine is moody and is clearly not the best design. Also, molds builds up in the detergent and softener drawer and encasement. I can clean the drawer by removing it, however not the encasement portion. This is hazardous to human health and I am shocked there was never a recall. Personally, the only help GE can provide is a rebate for my purchase that I can use to invest in another, more reasonable machine and get on with my life.

Worst washer I have ever used. Purchased 5 years ago and now it automatically changes the buttons without even touching it. Suspect the control board is defective but the cost of control board is equivalent to the washer price. Hence thinking of throwing it out as garbage.
