Well built product. The quality seems to be excellent. I preferred the video for setup rather than the printed instructions, but I'm not an electrician.

Just follow the wiring instructions and it's pretty simplified.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this GE 24hr Mechanical Metal Box Timer to install for an outdoor fountain pump. I have wiring knowledge and installed the timer myself without any problems. The timer works great to program the time of day I want my fountain to turn on and off. At this time, it is running reliably. The box is heavy duty, easy to install and easy to program. Therefore, I would recommend this purchase.

I really want to give a higher rating but having trouble with the timer. Wired for 240 V per the manual. Set clock time and Timer 1 settings before powering on the breaker. As soon as the Line power is activated the display is unreadable (lights up but looks like 88:88). The On setting will power my pool pump properly but timer display and function do not work properly. Any guidance or help would be appreciated. I double checked the wiring. Looks correct.

Ultimately I got a dud and had to send it back, but I think this product is good in some ways. It programs well and easily. Has lots of programming options and I didn't want to send it back. However, the terminals are hidden and you have to push two wires into some of the slots/holes. You can't really tell if you have a good connection because you can't actually see the connections. I ended up getting an intermatic digial timer. I could see the connections and we made sure we screwed them down properly. This gave me more peace of mind. With the GE (actually a JANCO product), it was arcing a little higher up from the terminals in the box. Meaning, it was sparking because there was a gap where it was wired by the factory and the electricity was visibly jumping from one point to the next. I called customer service for JANCO and they said it's not supposed to do that, so I sent it back. The screen is also hard to read when it is on the wall for some reason, probably because it has a convex piece of glass or plastic over it. The wiring is pretty straighforward, but I needed to have someone with electrical expertise install it. I would not recommend installing it if you don't have knowledge of electrical stuff because ultimately it is switch for a device (in my case, a water heater) that uses a large amount of power. I noticed that it only arced when I toggled the red button on the right.

Your timer is a peace of junk It is defective. Now I have no lights.
