GE PHS93XYPFS 30 Inch Slide-In Electric Induction Range with Smoothtop

I LOVE our new GE induction range. I have to admit, I was pretty uncertain about how I would feel about the change. The thing that bothered me the most was that my favorite skillet would no longer work well on the induction range. My husband purchased a beautiful cast iron skillet that I now love just as much. The range itself really does heat instantly. It can boil tap water in about a minute -- crazy! It is as easy to control as a gas range. The only down side of the range is on one side there are two burners that can be tethered together and operated together for a large pan - think rectangular pancake skillet. This feature is dumb because while the range top has markings indicating there would be even heating on the entire side of the range, including between the burners, that does not happen and you just have two separate hot spots on one large pan. I don't know why they did this. As to the oven, it is spacious -- you could definitely do a turkey. One of the racks pulls out of the oven, which is great. This means when you are doing something heavy or something you need to baste frequently, you don't have to lift it out of the oven -- you just pull out the rack. I like all of the features including the air frier. I should note that this is difficult to initially set up because the air frier will only work via an app on your phone. This means you need to set it up with wifi and that was pretty complicated. Once done, it's done forever (I hope!). The oven does not heat instantly like the range or like a gas range, but it also does not take as long as our old range. I feel like it takes about 12 - 13 minutes to heat up to 450, for example. The heat is even. I haven't used the self cleaning feature, but am glad it exists. I am also pleased with the storage drawer under the oven. It is large and easy to pull out.

Using the app, it is so easy to start oven for preheat even when I am not at home. Alarm sounds can be regulated so I can hear when timer goes off even in another room. Convection feature in oven produces perfect cookies. Controls are easy to use and very precise, allowing for quick heating and easy moving to simmer. I absolutely recommend this oven.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We just got our range but unless something goes wrong we're gonna love our range. The burners are providing even predictable heat. We used the precision cooking for the first time this morning. Worked well. Didn't disappoint at all. Burners heat quickly. The oven although only used once so far performed the best of any oven we have used. Seemed to be accurate in regards to the temperature and heated evenly baking our gluten free cake. Which came out great. Cleaning the stovetop has been fairly easy with the proper cleaner. The controls we clean using dedicated microfiber cloths used just for our range and clean up the control nicely.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love Love my new oven. Pros: water boils so fast, everything comes out perfect, easy to keep clean. Not sure what all the gripes were with the touch controls I have splattered stuff on them without temp changing and I have made it a habit to keep controls locked when not using. Love the camera and art . Only complaint is the special burner for those smart pans burns an imprint of my pan on it and is the loudest burner and only other con was it did an update while using my oven and shut everything down other than that love it

The only thing that kept me from 5 star is there was no book, no air fry pan, no probe, etc. why advertise these features and not include the necessary items

I really want to love this range and I do really like it other than the controls are dangerous. I have owned this range for about a year and a half and have tried to burn the house down with it more than once. At first, we laughed at me for being an overweight oaf and turning on or adjusting burners with my belly but it stopped being funny when others started doing it and damage started being done to non-cookware items sitting on the stovetop. Being a professional techie, I was excited about the touch controls and the app integration then I found out how few things could be done with the app and how dangerous the touch controls are. I know there's a lock, but that's all or nothing so while cooking, a misplaced hand or even a cookware lid and whoops, an unexpected burner is on. We have found a couple things that can be used as covers to stop the controls from accidentally activating but I am honestly at the point where I'm ready to eat the cost of this and find something new.

We were so excited about switching to induction cooking and to be honest we love the cooking part. However, the GE Profile software and controller panel need a lot of work. Occasionally, when items are cooking on top and in the oven, the control panel completely freezes and refuses to respond to any gestures. This can happen with the center panel as well as the individual burner panels. It's pretty scary when you can't get your burners to respond. We were told to flip the breaker in these circumstances. At least this got the attention of the machine, but the problems persisted. We continued to report the problems and the recommended solution was that the entire range was replaced. Now the new one suffers from the same problem. I'm concerned that we've spent a lot on a machine that will never actually work properly. This experience does not encourage me to consider GE appliances in the future.

Contrary to what I was told this very expensive oven does not have self clean. the steam clean does close to nothing. I was told that to keep the oven interior clean you have to manually clean it with non abrasive cleaners. So I am back to the 1950's scrubbing my stove by hand. The fingerprint resistant stainless steel is nice but the control board is a black glass that shows every fingerprint, streak and droplet. The oven top looks messy all the time.

The oven and cooktop provides basic services but to access advanced features like precision cooking and air fry you need to connect it to the internet. After following the directions I could not get it to work. I called GE technical support. After 30 minutes following their directions the support person said it may be the device I was using (cell phone) I tried a different device (tablet) and another 30 minutes to find out that didn't work either. Then the support person said the problem was my internet. The current standard is a 4 or 5G connection, but the range only receives a 2.4G signal. Really, 2.4G was the standard about 5 years ago. I was advised to contact my internet provider. It would be easier to contact the international space station than my internet provider, but another hour later I finally got through. The support person understood the question and said I would need a "special modem" that would have both 5G and 2.4G outputs. (More money, by the way). However, this special modem will not allow one to use WiFi extenders which we need in our house. So, I now have to choose between internet in my home office (which is necessary) or a range that communicates with the internet. Buyer Beware. Make sure you understand what is needed to connect to the internet and ask lots of questions.

I was really excited to get this top of the line induction range and converted away from gas. The installation was flawless except: * The installers tried to put in the extendable rack in any of the slots, but it didn't fit, and it scratched the finish on every slot they tried. Now I have scratches on all the slots of a brand-new oven and the extendable rack doesn't fit so that is trash. Not happy. * After plugging in the range, I get that the oven power is mis-wired and in Demo mode. I pulled off the back plate and checked. The installer put the green ground and white on the same screw. I fixed it and plugged it back in. Still said mis-wired and demo mode and looked online says that demo mode means the range only see 120V. I checked with my voltmeter and see 118V on both terminals. This did not work out of the box. 240 V going into the range but still says demo mode. Dinner is take out tonight. I had a wonderful menu planned but that will have to wait. I am going to schedule service call, but this should not happen on a brand-new appliance.
