[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I live in an apartment and struggled to find a washer and dryer combo that fit in smaller space but found these that fit just fine. My second concern was that they would be super small in capacity - that is not the case - they are spacious and fit a comforter comfortably :) I love that the washer machine doesn't use a lot of water and still get the job done! The machines are sexy and modern with the power of older technology!
This is our first GE washing machine. We are highly impressed with the overall quality and how well it cleans our clothing. There are many cleaning options available with this model (PTW605BPR1) depending on the type of clothing to be laundered. This GE washing machine actually removes stains and dirt unlike other machines we have owned in the past. We consider this to be a superior product!
Washer works, washes clothes. Does what it's supposed to. Only complaint we have is that it seems to get off balance very easily. Just about every load, the drum ends up smacking the housing during the spin cycle unless we stop it and adjust the load distribution inside.
This washer is huge. I'm very impressed with the size of the tub and the ability to put in large loads (blankets; towels; rugs). Have only had < one month, and the settings do take some getting used to. So far have pretty much by-passed the auto setting as I cannot get used to the limited water use. But the ability to add more water is a plus. It is quiet, even in the spin cycle, and seems to do a very good job cleaning and rinsing. Formerly had front load washer, and now prefer this top load GE. Still early, but so far I'm very pleased with the performance of the GE Profile.
Overall I really like this washer, but it takes a little getting use to all this technology. My old washer was a standard one and it this one has all this extra things to get use to. It's a little noisy but the capacity makes up for that small problem. The cycles are just the right length and the performance is great.
For cleanliness and efficiency I rate this 5 stars however I always have to stop and figure out what I'm trying to wash with the technology. Sometimes the water doesn't fill like I want it to but I'm learning the machine now. I am so used to a much simpler machine.
The washer is certainly big enough and does a good job cleaning the clothes. But I nearly returned it because it is very loud. Having had a front loader before, I was used to a relatively quiet machine. I now have to close the laundry room door so that it is not as annoying.
The washer cannot balance itself very well. Every load takes longer because it's trying to balance the load no matter how much or little wash is in the machine. Deep fill option only works on bulky loads. I thought you could select that option on any load. Makes a lot of unusual noises.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This machine had to be replaced only three months after the factory warranty ran out. Fortunately we had an extended warranty. The entire drum assembly including the main bearing and motor were worn out and while we had the unit 15 months, we were only in the house to use it about six months. Hope this replacement one holds up better.
Washer is TERRIBLE , doesn't fill all the way, doesn't drain all the way, doesn't clean all the clothes in the bowl, the bowl rocks and bangs in every load. Junk! And you can't connect with a real person at GE to get a solution! Buyers beware of this crap. Go down to the creek and wash by hand and your clothes will be more clean then using GE products
