I would have given it an overall five-star review the only issue we have is the cleaning light constantly flashes and we've gone through cleaning Cycles and gone through all the troubleshooting and it hasn't stopped flashing otherwise makes good ice constantly we had the Frigidaire and we returned it because it was junk very pleased with the ice maker overall

The ice is perfect and production is fast. The noise that others have complained about really isn't bad. I wouldn't put one of these in my bedroom but it's a kitchen appliance so I don't mind the little noise that it makes. The bin does drip a lot of water when you open it to get ice and when you take it out to refill the water reservoir. We didn't get the side tank but I can see that an advantage of that is filling less often and not having to remove the ice bin to refill. The instructions to sanitize 4 times a WEEK are nuts. Not gonna do that and I can't imagine anyone else will either. That means a complete shut down to run a mild bleach solution through the unit and then several rinse cycles so your ice doesn't taste like Chlorox. That's gotta be a typo in the instructions. I'll sanitize when I descale once a month. Overall, we love it. We live in the boonies and it is 70 miles to the nearest Sonic so this is awesome. :-)

I bought one of these 1-1/2 years ago. I used water that mesured "0" with a Zero water pitcher. I didn't think I would need to clean it so often. Well, it got stopped up anyway. I did clean it about every 3rd month. With clean clean water,I so thought that would be sufficient. Obviously , it wasn't. I did like it so much though, that I bought another one anyway.

Opal makes WONDERFUL ice! The problem is that it breaks down far too often. Definitely buy the extended warranty. I am about to return my 3rd machine in 2.5 years and I've only had this one for a few months and it has stopped working.

This is a great machine....for a while. This is the fourth one we have had in about 5 years. I clean it and descale it regularly. We use double filtered water...because let's be honest, who is going to buy gallons and gallons of distilled water every week to make ice. Even in doing so, after about a year it starts to make horrible noises and grinding sounds. This will be the last one we buy. If I have to replace it every year, I might as well buy a cheaper brand. This seems to be such a common problem you would think GE would find a solution considering the high price they charge for the ice maker.

It was a great ice maker at first, but the motor went out in the first 30 days of purchase. I returned and got another one and within a month it was making a god awful sound.

The reason for 1 star is because they sent the wrong color and told me to return and reorder. When I tried to reorder the price went us $150. So I purchased it elsewhere. I love the unit and the ice it makes.

This was a gift and I was so excited to get it. The ice is perfect, but it is not a way to detach the water lines for a thorough cleaning. The only thing you really can do is run cleaning solution through the lines, but it would be great if we could actually detach the lines to clean them.

Warranty rules are designed extremely well, a quagmire of hoops (photos, videos (some videos requested would require a professional videographer) and would take days to generate to catch the flashing lights. This tactic of course runs out your 1 year warranty and forces the buyer to go on social media sites to try to find solutions to the issues. Even supervisors cannot authorize a new unit, have to go through hoops. Congrats, you have obtained a lot of first time buyers and lost so many future purchases for small and large GE appliances.

this machine NEVER made ice. AND I AM STILL WAITING FOR MY REFUND!! I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ONE!! TOO MUCH MONEY FOR IT TO NOT WORK!! And customer service was a nightmare
