[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This ice maker is a life changer. It is very easy to set up, it makes ice in just a few minutes. It doesn’t make loud noises, which is great. The size was wonderful for me since I don’t have much space and it is super easy to clean up.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This ice machine is spectacular. The size of the ice is very good since it is not very big. It doesn’t take so long to prepare. It’s very easy to clean.
I absolutely love my GE Profile Opal Nugget Ice Maker! It makes the perfect soft, chewable nugget ice and produces it surprisingly fast. The ice tastes great, the machine looks sleek on my counter, and it’s been very easy to use and clean. I also love having fresh nugget ice whenever I want it without having to run to the store for bags of ice. If you’re an ice person, this is definitely worth it. We use ours constantly and I would absolutely buy it again!
Unboxing experience was awesome, very premium. Packaging 10/10. Downloaded the app, went through the startup steps following the app instructions. Seamless experience. Best part...ice is awesome and quick producing! Kids love it!
This makes fantastic nugget ice. The front drain is very convenient to have and I couldn’t live without that ease of maintenance. The only setback is the need to fill the reservoir only by taking out the ice bin. It’s a bit cumbersome over time, I wish this model version had the upper reservoir funnel type of fill like the higher trim levels of this machine. I do like that the buttons are physical push buttons - I think they will last longer than touch sensitive buttons.
It worked great for a few weeks- now it just won’t make ice- it acts like it is going to, but then goes into defrost mode- I reached out to the GE help line and they won’t help…
Very disappointed with the design and misleading dimensions I was extremely excited to order this ice maker and spent a lot of time researching it before purchasing. I reviewed every detail, including the dimensions, and measured my available space multiple times to make sure it would fit. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed to discover that the listed depth does not appear to include the drip tray, which makes the actual footprint deeper than the dimensions led me to believe. This is especially frustrating after carefully measuring multiple times specifically to ensure it would fit. The other major issue is the water-filling design. The water has to be added from the front of the machine, in the same compartment where the ice drops. This is extremely inconvenient. When I add water, it either ends up melting the ice already in the bin or spills/runs into the ice compartment. It seems like a significant design flaw for an appliance that requires frequent refilling. I really wanted to love this ice maker, but between the inaccurate/incomplete depth measurement and the poorly designed water-fill location, I am very unhappy with it so far. I would really appreciate someone from the manufacturer reaching out to me to discuss whether there is a solution to these issues. I purchased this expecting a well-designed product based on the specifications provided, and I would like the opportunity to find a satisfactory resolution.
After going through several models of icemaker, I finally found one I really like. The problem? It squeals like a cat in heat. I've been online to try to reconcile the problem, but I run across many, many consumers who say the same thing. It is evidently a problem with the product itself. It makes great nugget ice when it's not squalling like a lost calf. I have run it through its clean cycles over and over and over again to try to get it to stop, as that is one thing that other consumers have recommended. No help from the manufacturer, and certainly no help from the extended warranty. This has taught me a valuable lesson… don't buy the extended warranties, keep the box. The product comes in, and if you have a problem, return it as soon after you find the problem as you possibly can. Otherwise you're going to be jumping through hoops at the insurance company sent you through. Walmart needs to do better.
This is our third GE Opal line ice maker - two chronically grow mold despite weekly descaling and twice monthly sanitation with 10% bleach. We decided to try the mini and chose the $279 model. Despite marketing info demonstrating the top fill bin on this model, you have to step up to the $300 model to gain that option. There is no documentation on GE's website (in any obvious place) describing that this model lacks that functionality. If you want the top fill option or an LED light at all (which is pictured in marketing material for this model) you need to buy the $300 version. It is disappointing that GE does not make this clear in marketing material or the product page on their website or Walmart's website.
Was able to easily setup the ice maker. However when opening the box a wet sticky substance was on the packaging and the actual ice maker. I cleaned it and proceeded with setup. Unfortunately the ice maker only made three cubes of ice and then I received an error message and it shut off. Called support and they walked me through attempting to fix it but it didn’t work. Returned after a week of trying to get it to work.
