[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had the chance to use several of the wrenches now and I'm impressed with the way they grab the fasteners. I have yet to round off any corners which I was really happy about, especially working on 25 year old vehicles in the rust belt. The chrome is nice and they are easy to wipe clean after use. I also like the fact that they don't skip any sizes on the SAE or metric wrenches.

I don't know if I have ever seen a 32mm open end wrench. I have used them and they are milled perfectly. The larger sizes have some heft. The lengths are pretty much spot on for any task.

However, a set of great combination wrenches are still a required item in any toolbox, with zero moving parts and designed to take abuse. This 44-piece set from GearWrench includes every size you will need. Fit, finish, and the subjective feeling is high-quality steel and chrome finish. There is 19 SAE 1/4" to 1-1/2" and 25 metric 6mm to 32mm (29mm excluded). Each has a 12-point box end offset of 15° and an open wrench head. They are also "long patterned" enabling better access to fasteners in certain scenarios and greater leverage/torque. The geometry for both the open end and 12-point box end of the wrench is designed for off-corner loading, improving torque application up to a measured 25% torque improvement. Each wrench is stamped with the brand, model number, and size of the wrench in multiple areas. After using these wrenches during an afternoon tune-up, I encountered no issues, the offset was utilized as designed, and the long pattern was advantageous. This long-pattern SAE/Metric set offers no plastic, aluminum, or moving parts to break. An ideal purchase knowing the size needed is available. Highly recommended to friends, family, and strangers.

The long pattern helped with the tightening, made it super easy. They also look good sitting in my toolbox. Chrome is nice. I also liked it didnt come with a holder. It seems like a waste to me as I usually toss them and use my preferred ones.

The size is printed on each side of the "open end" for easy of use. the 15 degree offset on the "box end" is just right to help reach in tight areas, the off corner loading for those stripped or rusted fastener ends works perfectly. I was impressed with the added length of the wrench's, aiding in torque and leverage during use, minimizing trips to the tool box for a longer handle tooling. I choose the 44 piece combination wrench set to review, because I needed longer wrenches and these were advertised as "long pattern", some are longer then usual but not all, still very happy with the product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I admit I was skeptical about these wrenches. I read some reviews prior to receiving them and read some critical stuff. So yes, they came loose packed in boxes all rattling together. Upon inspection they looked really nice though. I put them to use for a few weeks and was won over. These are great wrenches. The fit and finish is supurb. The long pattern is strong and gives exceptional leverage. I have put them to the test and am satisfied they will seve me well for a long time. I recommend these wrenches for professional use.

This is the absolute lowest quality and worst set of wrenches I've ever seen in my 40 years of motorsports. I've purchased quite a few sets of GW tools over the years and always been very happy with the quality and value. Those were all made in Taiwan. As another reviewer noted a couple months ago, it appears GW has recently changed to a new supplier in China that is much, much lower quality. These are terrible. Some are bent. Uneven. Curves and edges have all been finished haphazardly. Stampings are crooked and in some places nonexistent. Lots of dings and dents under the chrome from manufacturing. Chrome finish itself looks extremely poor. To be honest I wouldn't be happy with these at any price... not even free. I get the impression Apex is tired of investing in the GW brand and is now trying to extract as much yield as possible, sourcing from the cheapest suppliers no matter how much the quality suffers. Shame.

Got this set based on other Gearwrench tools I own that function great & chrome finish is flawless with crisp clean engraving that's easy to read. However all my others were manufactured in Taiwan, this particular set was manufactured in China. I had heard there was a difference in tools manufactured in these two countries but figured i'd give them a chance. The Chrome finish on them was pretty good as well as the engraving, however when they were all packaged together in one box for metric and one box for sae they got scuffed and scratched up pretty bad during transport from the factory. This was a minor concern, being tools their going to get scuffed & scratched probably worse than this during normal use. The long pattern of the wrenches was a big selling point for me for added leverage and extra reach as well as not skipping any sizes for a complete set covering anything I may encounter in automotive or small engine work. Sadly that's where the good part ends. To me the most important function of a wrench is fitment on a fastener and that's where this set fails miserably! Maybe I got a bad set ? I don't know. But for what I paid for this set I expected much better results. I compared these to other wrenches (same brand & other brands) I've used for years and my old wrenches fit fasteners much tighter even after years of use & abuse. Fitment on fasteners is Terrible! Way too much play before engaging a bolt or nut, felt like I'd grabbed the wrong size. The 1/2" wrench was by far the worst, 5/16, 9/16, 10, 13 & 14mm wasn't much better. Some sizes did fit great, the 7/16, 5/8, 11/16, 3/4 I tried fit fasteners very well but too hit or miss therefore I had to return, Very poor quality control.
