the best pipe wrench you can have in your tool bag.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been interested in this product for a while now. It 100% met my expectations! While not a replacement for a traditional pipe wrench, the narrower jaw and smaller head fits in more places. While threading, the design definitely is ergonomic with an almost ratchet effect. While it does state 5/8 minimum, they mean that! It will not grip on 1/2 pipe, which is probably my only complaint. Perfect wrench for 3/4 and 1" though!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Worked great when changing out a water heater. Used it for multiple fittings of different sizes on gas lines and plumbing. Heavy duty, durable construction. Comfortable rubberized grip makes it easy to use.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This pipe wrench works really well for running rigid pipe. Im a commercial and industrial electrician. I run quite a bit of 3/4 to 1 inch rigid pipe. This wrench is very sturdy and aggressive for intalling pipe. Im very pleased with the quality and ease of use.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This handy little tool takes all the fumbling and guessing out of using a pipe wrench. It's not as big or clunky to use and gets in tight spaces much easier. It feels solid in your hand so you know you're working with a quality tool.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Jaw teeth are excellent on holding any material (copper, pvc, iron, painted pipes etc) with out damaging them. Like how it self grips when turning. Also noticed that you can use it similar to a auto ratcheting wrench which helps connecting and disconnecting pipes in tight spot.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this handy pipe wrench to replace a stuck water feeder valve on my boiler. It easily fit into tight spaces and left no damage on the brass pipe fittings. This wrench made loosening a severely corroded pipe union a breeze.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was originally skeptical of the refreshed design on the old classic pipe wrench, but this one surprised me through and through. It has a nice robust heavy feel just like most pipe wrenches, but feels a lot better in your hand with the textured grip as opposed to straight cold steel. The components that make it up feel well made and sturdy. This heavy duty wrench would still be a great go to club if needed in battle! The ease of use is where this wrench really shines with automatic tensioning by just clamping onto the pipe, no need to adjust a dial to get it right. While this is a new take on an old told, it might take a little bit of getting used to . The tension mechanism snaps on pretty well, but i found giving it a good squeeze with your hand onto what your are turning makes it feel properly seated. The ratcheting action feels much like that of a standard pipe wrench. I tested grip on several different pipe materials like pvc, EMT conduit, iron gas pipe, and a standard hose nut and it bit very well on all of them making it overall much quicker and more convenient than your standard pipe wrench. While i don't know if I am ready to say this is an overall replacement for the standard pipe wrench, it is definitely a great version of one, and with further use I might just change all my pipe wrenches over to this one.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Convent for a quick grab tool. Does not always have the best access but bites quickly. Bites with out marking on black pipe and tie rods. The cushion grip is comfortable in the hand but does not give. This makes it great for knowing how much pressure you are applying
I had high hopes for the Crescent Self-Adjusting 12” Pipe Wrench, especially given Crescent's long standing reputation for durable, professional-grade tools. Unfortunately, this one didn't live up to the name. After only a few light uses, the jaws failed completely unacceptable for a tool that's supposed to handle heavy duty work. The self adjusting feature seemed great at first, but the mechanism felt loose over time, and eventually, it just gave out. I wasn't applying excessive force, just standard tightening on fittings. And the jaw sheared off. For the price point and brand reputation, I expected reliability and longevity, not a short lived tool. If Crescent stands behind their products, I'd hope they'll honor a replacement or redesign this model for better durability because the concept is excellent but the execution, sadly is not. Until then, I'd recommend sticking with a traditional pipe wrench if you want something that lasts.
