Great Camera W/out Constant Subscription Pressure

Kelli June 9, 2026

One thing I really like about some of these less popular camera brands is that they often include more practical features without constantly pushing subscriptions. I currently have one popular name-brand camera and two less well-known brands (this one being one of them), and they are all three really good cameras and are very good quality. The reason I tend to check these less popular brands more often is because the name-brand camera constantly pushes monthly subscription popups every time I open the app. It's not the end of the world, but it gets annoying when I'm just trying to quickly check on my cats. This camera doesn't do that at all, which I really appreciate. The app for this camera is slightly less intuitive than my other cameras at first, but it's not difficult once you get used to where the features are located. I included screenshots showing exactly where to click because some features, like motion tracking, are tucked inside a menu instead of being immediately visible on the main screen. Everything works really well. The motion tracking follows smoothly, setup was quick and easy, and connecting to Wi-Fi was simple. I also really like that it supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi. The video quality is excellent. Daytime footage is very clear and sharp, and night vision works well too. Like any indoor camera, nighttime quality isn't quite as crisp as daytime, but you can still clearly see everything. I also added a micro SD card for local storage, and I included a picture showing where the card goes. Another feature I really liked is that it easily connected to Google Home. Setup was simple, and now I can quickly view the camera directly inside my Google Home app, which is really convenient. The speaker and two-way audio work well too. I actually had to turn the volume down because it was louder than I expected, though some people may prefer that. The camera movement itself is quiet and smooth, similar to my other cameras. Physically, the camera feels solid and well made, and I think the little smiley-face logo is adorable. Overall, I'm really happy with this camera. Once you learn the app layout, it offers a lot of useful features without making you feel pressured into paying for subscriptions all the time.

Our go to brand for mini cams, animal watching etc

LA June 1, 2026

We have several Geeni cameras and lights and enjoy using them. I have been in need of one to spy on my cats wherever they are… One has days where it is skittish and hides for no immediate reason but i suspect the 2 boys are taking play time too far. The rotating cam head on this covers the entire area where they are all together so i should have my answer pretty soon. Once that issue is solved i will be watching their food bowls to verify whether one is eating leftovers or outright taking from the others…she is getting heavier than she should be based on her ‘supposed food intake'. This could be the reason why the boys may be being too rough with her. The options on this little camera are just what i need to figure out both potential problems. Very pleased with the ease of use that are Geeni devices.

I love this little thing. It's motion tracking is a really cool feature. Only thing I don't like is that it's meant to be upside down cause it's about to look straight up at the ceiling but not down enough to see the kiddos so I had to put it on a lower shelf which makes it accessible to them if they got interested. Overall it's a good product and the app works well. We have 3 of these and they're linked together on the app. Be careful with the motion detection feature because it will go off on every little thing. It went off all morning because it was detecting the sunrise glare coming in from the window as it moved across the wall. If you don't want to use an micro sd card with it is fine cause if you use take a pic or vid using the app it saves it directly to your phone/tablet. You are able to view multiple cameras but can only record one at a time though. That might be available if you have multiple SD cards in each device though.

Security watch dog

anonymous June 2, 2026

The camera is good, the name is good, Genni I've used their products before, had the simple lollypop camera, this camera has more features to it but depends on the cloud, it can be used without you just need to buy a micro SD card, something Genni does not include with the camera. over all a few more features like distinguishing between a human and animal. all in all it's a decent camera for the price.
