Well worth the money

Weil house May 1, 2026

I bought the dehumidifier a couple of weeks ago, when my area was getting slammed with severe thunderstorms and tornadoes. I never realized how much moisture there was in my house. In the two weeks I've had it, I have probably emptied the bucket 15 times (at least). I love that it has smart dry (so I don't have to worry about adjusting it) and the empty bucket alarm so I'm not checking it all the time. I would definitely recommend it.

GE portable dehumidifier great value

Wardawge November 19, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm very happy with this dehumidifier. It drains into the crock in the basement so never a need to empty it. You can hear it running but not too noisy. The basement is dry and even clothes that get hung to dry dry very quickly. I'm very pleased with this product.

Great Performance

Su50 August 14, 2025

Purchased the 35pint size model for the basement that includes a crawl space for a main floor family room addition. The set up was straight forward although I had the most trouble attaching one of the plastic caster wheels. It was a very snug fit. I set the humidity to continuous function with a hose emptying to floor drain. Within a few hours the damp feel and damp smell were noticeable improved. The unit does generate noticeable heat. Since it is located in the utility area this is not a problem for me. I have had unit operating for a week during hot, rainy, very high humid weather. I am very pleased with this unit so far!

Gets the job done

Sharron76 July 26, 2026

While the dehumidifier gets the job done, it is very difficult to remove the bucket to empty out the water. It does not come out with ease.

Possible improvements.

Bob 6318 May 15, 2026

Cannot be used with a garden one that has a knob to help tighten hose to dehumidifier. It helps dehumidifier to be up on a table if using a long garden hose in a basement. Donntforgetto block the casters

Emptying the water container

ChattyCathy8982 May 1, 2026

It works great. Easy to move around in the basement. I do have a hard time pulling the filled water tank off from the dehumidifier, when it's full. Nice to have a handle or deeper indent on the sides, to pull it out.

It works but…

purrfectp August 16, 2025

It seems to turn on at the first sign of moisture in air which is good but I don’t love how often I have to drain it. Like 2 times in a day and I wish it was quieter.

Outdated Manual and Hose Problems

ras42 July 26, 2026

I have an approximately 1500 square foot basement and have needed to empty the bucket 4 times a day due to the humidity. At time of hook up it showed 75% and I set it to 45%. It has taken more than two weeks to get it down to 50%. I finally bought a garden hose and attached it with no problem. The manual has a photo of the dashboard with a button for PUMP and to push pump button. I do not have on the pump button on my dashboard. So, I sent the question to GE and received an answer that my model does not have that button. However, they directed me to attach the hose anyways and it will empty automatically and bucket will not be fill up. IT DOES NOT EMPTY - THE BUCKET REMAINS FULL. Very frustrating!!!! My recommendation to GE is to update their manual and offer an option to buy a hose that works at time of purchase.

Humidity killed the circuit board area

James5433211 January 4, 2026

Long term issue. Condensation builds up in the controller area trapping water (not moisture vapors) between the plastic shield and the bottom of the circuit board. This corroded the contacts and caused all control functions to stop working. Control area needs to be better isolated from the heat exchanger or maybe a small amount of dehumidified air needs to be circulating through the circuit board area. Sadly it’s out of warranty or I would not have disassembled the unit.

Designed flawed piece of garbage!!

Busted2026 June 15, 2026

It’s a beautiful looking machine but it’s a piece of garbage!! It’s has a design flaw!! When running continuously the condensation builds up inside the top of the unit and gets circuit board to get wet. The circuit board is to close to the panel below it. The water collects on the panel below it, which is only an 16th of an inch away. The water then soaks the circuit board which then causes the unit to stop working! After taking three of them apart they all did the same thing!! No parts or repair available!! Complete waste of money!
