Love the sear area and my wife loves to cook chicken on the upper rack, which is twice the area from my last Weber. Btw, assembly was very easy and straight forward. If you've ever wondered if the propane level, Weber added an external level gauge so you never have to guess. Lastly, with the stainless steel grates, you never have to worry about turning rusty, which gets transferred to the meat/chichen.
I bought the SE-E-435 model after a lot of research and debate. Main decision factors were heat output (especially for searing sous vide steak) and durability. The joys of assembling these things yourself is that you gain an appreciation for the design and construction. I'm not sure about the powder coated panelling but the rest of the BBQ is well built. The heat output is superb and it will sear a steak to perfection (allowing 5-10 minutes to get the plate hot). The burner guards glow red-hot so there is plenty of heat, with minimal flare-ups once you start to render the fat from the meat. Also used it for slow cooked chicken thighs, cooked on the heating shelf. Heat leakage from the cover is minimal, so easy to keep the heat contained.
Relatively easy to put together - just takes time. Massive and versatile cooking area. Searing is an awesome feature.
I like the grill. The cover is a very poor quality . Only had the grill a few weeks and a storm tore the cover. There are no tie downs for the bottom. Cheesy cover for a 2k grill
Fantastic upgrade to my 13 year old Genesis Weber that served me well. The Genesis has so many more bells & whistles, top of the list is the internal lighting, now that the days are getting shorter, comes in hand to light the way. This grill includes the Crafted Weber kitchen collection setup where I used the Flattop, great addition. Assembly went smoothly, although there was a missing key part that Weber rectified immediately within 3 days with a replacement part. Also the additional side storage helps keeping the kitchen collection piece handy, but still out of the way. I haven't utilized all the Smart features yet, but the grill temp from the app is the bomb, so far. My only negative for this and most Weber Genesis grills, is the price, I paid it, but it is getting outrageous and hopefully this will last to be my final grill purchase.
This is my 4th Weber. I was anxious to get this new model but was very disappointed with the documentation and instructions for use. There is no real directions on how to use the new Smart features and panel. Also disappointed prior to purchasing this grill I called to get a technical questions answered. Was transferred to an Indian operator who was clueless. I thought Weber is AMERICAN MADE so why is support in India? All said I am a Weber fan and will figure it out in time.
Great product, works great. Searing area with extra burner is a game changer. Don't know how we managed without it. Note: Assembly is extensive and not the best instructions provided - no words, only pictures with limited accuracy.
Nice grill but while the cavity gets really hot, the temperature on the grids does not. You shouldn't have to use the sear zone to get good color on a burger.
this gas grill is ok. the electronic were hanging down; they must have not been connected adequately. the manual is not easy to follow. I'm having a hard time connecting the power cord to the unit. I was expecting more for a high priced grill.
Grill cooks great but smart features aren't well thought out or worth the extra cost. There is no temperature gauge in lid so you have to use the smart thermometer which is a bit of pain in itself. Either have to plug in the grill (who wants to leave an extension cord plugged in outside) or buy your own battery charger. I bought a waterproof iPhone / camping charger to use but the Weber smart thermometer connection doesn't recognize the power source after I leave it off for a while so I have to get under the grill to unplug and telling it back in. A smart grill at this price should come with a removable LiOn battery (which forms have the unplug issue) and the Weber app (which is pretty good) should be able to tell me the charge level so I know when to recharge. Lastly, the cooking light went out so the in my first month of using it. I wish I had stayed with the high end Weber dumb grill then buy this.
