Genie Universal Garage Door Opener Wireless Entry Keypad

The opener that came with our Genie 3053-TKV never did work well and we put up with it for 3 years. Bought this replacement and it works like a charm, every time!

Solidly built. I recommend. The instructions could use some work. Google AI search provided what I found to be clearer instructions on programming it.

The keypad works great and was easy to program, once I understood the instructions. For the old door openers that require the use of pins, you have to get the instructions on-line.

I paid professional installer. Turned out fine.

It took two people to get it installed - one on the key pad and one at the garage door opener to tell the code. I'm sure one person could do it, but it's easier with two. It's not a simple operation unless a person does this regularly. This key pad beeps as each number is entered, which is a feature my former key pad didn't do. This key pad runs on two aaa batteries and seem easy to replace when they wear out. In comparison my previous pad took a 9volt and was difficult to open the box to replace.

The new one looks to have fixed some minor design flaws in the one that I replaced, but I had to subtract a couple of stars because the old one was barely two years old and completely stopped working for no apparent reason, so I had to spend the money again to replace it, and I don't know if this one will outlast the other. Seems like a device intended to be outside in the elements should survive longer than 26 months!

It works as a unit by itself but I was not able to program it to my car or the hand held clicker. I was not able to get ahold of customer service and, as simple as the instructions are, they did not allow me to connect to the clicker or my car.

It took me about a Week or so just to get it working, I did all the instructions correctly but when I pressed the Purple "Learn" button on my Garage door, I jumped down and held the "Program" button on the Keypad, nothing happened, I kept trying over and over until it finally worked, but when I enter the code it usually takes about 30 secs for it to kick in then opening the Garage, I highly suggest getting a keypad that your OWN Garage door brand makes, I guess this works better when you have a Genie Garage Door
