Little Best Friend

Dory August 15, 2025

This little knife is the best pocket knife I've ever own. This is the 4th purchase of the identical knife I've made, I keep forgetting it's in my pocket and then 3 times I've entered a Federal Building and they take it from me. It's a small knife, it can even be put on a keychain, but it is handy. If it gets washed, no problem, it's all metal and it is rugged and takes a beating. Holds it's edge, if your like me I keep a razor edge on it and never used it as a screw driver, it's a knife and I treat it like one. Fits great in my pocket, thinner than 3 quarter coins, only 2" long when closed, I am able to keep a small finger nail clipper and this knife in my pocket with not a problem and forget they are there. If you want a small pocket knife that fits extremely well in your pocket and is tough enough to do what you need a pocket knife to do, this is the knife you need. I've been using this knife for over 20 years (although it is my 4th knife, it has never failed me.) My first knife lasted 12 years and around the edges I had worn of the black color but the knife was still as ready as it ever had been. I can't same enough about this knife, it's been like my best friend and constant companion. I'm retired now but for 40 years I was Shipping/Receiving/Warehouseman and this knife as my main tool was golden.

Perfect, and truly pocket, knife

Mcwhirtj May 17, 2025

I've had countless pocket knives over the years. For me, none come close to the STL 2, which I've been using now for about 6 years. And I love it for the reasons you will see over and over again in these reviews: Perfect size for an everyday (truly) pocket knife. And this thing holds an edge! I abuse it deburring pipe (e.g., copper pipe, emt conduit) and machined metal parts from my hobby shop, and it holds up well. When needed, a quick pass on the sharpening stone and it is as good as new.

I have had many similar knives in my life. But this one is the one I won't go with out. Holds a good edge, and it's a tough little son of a gun. Plus if the unfortunate happens it's inexpensive to replace. It's strong enough to take on projects bigger than you would think it could or should. Also if you buy scratch and win tickets having change in your pocket to scratch them is slowly becoming increasingly rare. Closed it is great for scratching those off. I sharpen mine about once a year and it's still always sharp, and I use mine frequently and occasionally mildly abuse it. It still stays sharp and comes back for more. In case you hadn't noticed I really like mine.

every day fan

Anonymous August 13, 2015

I have two of these knives (I bought a second unit after I thought I lost the original). I've also bought three more as gifts. The design is a triumph of simplicity and durabillity. I carry it with me every day, and I use the knife every day it seems. Because it's so thin, it carrys comfortably in my front pants pocket. It's easy to open, locks securely, and also closes easily - when you want it to close. The blade is very sharp and holds it's edge well. I've just talked myself into buying a couple more as gifts.....

Beware of black oxide coating

Anonymous March 20, 2013

This knife is very good as a small pocket knife. I've used it to open letters, eat apples, and cut boxes. Be careful though as the black coating with scratch at the drop of a hat. My keys left a lovely mark the first time the knife was in my pocket. I expected better quality from the coating but you get what you pay for.

Love it

Ann March 10, 2016

I carry this on my keychain or in my back pants pocket and never even notice it's there - it lives up to the Thin and Light part of its name. The lock works well enough and I find it easy to open with two hands (doable but not easy with one hand). It shipped sharp enough for everyday use, so no complaints here. My one gripe: the 'spine' of the handle is open and since I carry it on my keychain, it's constantly getting keys and rings stuck in it and bumping up against the edge of the blade. I'm going to close it up myself but it would have been a better product if the blade were better protected with a closed back. The hinge motion isn't very smooth, but otherwise it's a great item and at a great price.

Survivalist

Anonymous April 15, 2012

I bought this knife quickly, as a last minute buy on my way out for a month long camping/survival trip last year. I can honestly say that being used on a daily basis, for making wood shavings, as a general knife, it's worked fantastic. Even a year later, it's still kept it's edge and works great! I carry it with my every day, and it's by far one of my favourites.
