I acquired this Gerber Suspension NXT-15 Multi-tool because I always need a Knife or a Screwdriver or Pliers or Wire Cutter, seems like there is always something I do not have with me. Well, this certainly solves the problem, now I have it all right in my pocket. The Multi-tool is very well made and the accessories are strong enough for the toughest jobs, it is modern stylish and not as heavy as you would think. It has a strong clip to clip to your belt or pocket or, you can purchase a nice holster for convenient carrying. I used it several times the first day. If you are a handy person or just keep busy with little projects you will love this Tool. With a limited Life-Time warranty you know it's gotta be good.
Great tool, I use it around the house/yard and garden all the time!
This is by far one of the neatest handiest tool for any style project Your doing....from screwing in a screw ....to twist tying my Bamboo privacy fence outside in my new home I bought .... It's lightweight for the sturdy steel like material it's made from. All the tools fold away and do not interfere with each other when Your using a particular tool ....this would make a awesome gift... I'm actually going to buy these for gift stocking stuffers for sure.. You won't go wrong with this neat all in one tool gadget... I just love it ....I use it from my outdoor projects and indoor Projects on a daily basis....you won't go wrong with this gadget
Nice well build, it is a Gerber after all, multi tool. This is a great addition to the Gerber line, and is the quality you would expect from Gerber. Nice touch is the locking implements and blades with an easy to use release lever on the side panel of the grips. Surprisingly as I had been in other tools of this nature which had dull scissors that pretty much only cut from the pressure exerted , these scissors are quite sharp and actually cut. The implements, scissors knife blades screwdrivers fold out very easily and fold back in with a slight push when releasing the lock lever with your thumb. Pliers have good jaws and a wire cutter at the hinge. Very handy tool that folds well and is not very heavy to carry, although it does need a tapered case our sheets open at the top since it is an inch and a half wide at the bottom and nearly 2 inches at the top.
This handy little tool(s) has lived up to all I was hoping for, which was not perfection but that it worked as described. All tools have easy access and perform well, including the scissors, which will cut through card stock with ease. Now, how long it stays sharp or the screwdrivers keep their shape and all the rest, only time will tell. For now, I'd get another one for sure.
I was somewhat apprehensive opening the package. I have owned Gerbers since a beautiful Magnum, purchased in the late 70's. Like many others, I had heard about quality issues since they relocated their manufacturing facilities to China. Such is not the case. This is not your mini combo tool. It is hefty, and fully fits the hand. It is made for real work, not cleaning your fingernails. It comes with a variety of tools. First, a nice blade, serrated near the rear. Opening it, there is a nice needle-nose pliers and handy scissors, tightly joined. Other offerings include a combo flat-head screwdriver with bottle opener-can opener; a broad flat-head driver with a groove for wire stripping; an allen-head screwdriver; a fat-head screwdriver with ruler and file edges, and a scoring blade. The case is skeletonized metal, with a handy belt clip. A great feature is that all blades can be positively locked, preventing accidental cuts or finger pinches. The only downside is that, due to tight fit, the blades can be hard to open, as there are no fingernail grooves to assist in opening. Overall, a good all-round tool.
I got this figuring it'll be handy to have, "Just in case." Then two days later, while riding my bicycle I got a flat tire. As I removed the tire to replace the tube, I found a tiny piece of sharp metal stuck in the tire. It was the size of a broken staple but super hard, sharp and wedged in there and unwilling to be removed with just finger power. Thankfully, I had this Multi-tool in my backpack. Opening the pliers, I grabbed this tiny piece of offending metal and tugged, tugged, tugged, tugged, and tugged...and finally it relented and came out. Without removing the metal, there would've been no point of putting a new tube in because that metal would've punctured that one too! Without this tool I would've been in big trouble without limited options. So, this multi-tool has proved useful. I might not use this everyday, but I carry it everyday just in case I do need it.
I have owned several different brands of multi tools. Some were OK and some weren't worth a hoot. This Gerber NXT is a quality made multi tool with all steel parts. I own several Gerber knives that have served me well over the years so I'm sure this multi tool will do the same. The main thing I was looking for in a multi tool to was a good sharp knife blade, pliers and philips and flat head screw drivers. This multi tool has all that and then some. It does have the 15 different tools but I must admit some are really lacking in usefulness. Case in point is the ruler. Not even 2 inches. Really? What good is that?Another problem I have is the fact it only has a belt clip which is OK but I would really like to have a snap case the fits on a belt. I lost one multi tool that only had a belt clip. The last thing I have a problem with are the (and this is just me,I'm 70 and wear glasses) are the printed info papers. Very tiny print. All thins considered this is a quality tool which I hope will last for years to come and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good multi tool.
The first thing I noticed about this Gerber Suspension NXT Multi-Tool is how high quality it looked. It has some weight to it, so make sure you are wearing a belt. Not sure I want to keep carrying this as my EDC because of the weight. I really like that it has a belt clip instead of using a holster. It's good that the belt clip is designed for deep carry because the belt clip is a little on the weak side. All individual accessories are fairly easy to deploy. The best part is the accessories can be accessed when the tool is closed. The blade arrived hair shaving sharp. Having the locking system was a great idea, most importantly when you are using the knife. I did not notice a lot of flex while using the pliers or screwdriver. This tool is not meant for commercial use. I wish the spring that operates the pliers was a little stronger. It would have helped if there was some type of grip ridges along the other edges to operate in wet conditions. The tool slips in my hand when wet. This tool will be an excellent choice for your casual use around the house and taking camping.
This Gerber is nothing like its predecessors. I've had three previous Gerber multi tools each were far superior than this piece of junk. I understand stainless steel is not as rigid or quality as carbon steel. That being said I didn't expect much however, the super thin construction easily bent hinge point and unable to take the screws out to fix the bent retainer clip leads me to believe that this is the cheapest quality. I have barely started using this multi tool and discovered how I've wasted my money. At this point I'm teetering whether I should take it back get my money invested in a more quality tool or keep this one and throw it in the tacklebox or toolbox as if I screw it up don't worry about it it's not that good to begin with tool. I'll have to make up my mind quickly as I've really only the month and I am extremely disappointed!
