Ghostbusters - Original Soundtrack (Walmart Exclusive) - Vinyl LP

Love the various colors Walmart puts out with their vinyl! This is a fun one to have, Marshmallow White, perfect for ghost busting! While tracklist isn't super spectacular, the color vinyl, cover and hit song make it a must have for the vinyl collector!

As a fan of the timeless classic film, always loved the theme of the film and the rest of the soundtrack. This vinyl edition in white marshmallow is definitely worth having in your record collection for many years to spin!

Ghostbusters is a great soundtrack. I was hyped to receive this vinyl. It was "remastered", it was a beautiful white color, it was brand new. Unfortunately, it was a big letdown. Whoever "remastered" this should be someone who knows what they are doing. When putting the needle down to the vinyl, it was popping, hissing, and there was tons of background noise. I gave it a pass, considering it was the start of the vinyl. After a couple of minutes, the pops %26 hissing slowed down, but never went away throughout the entire listening experience. The background noise still existed at the same level all the way through. The sound was incredibly disappointing. The quality of the music was very low. As an audio engineer myself, I can tell you they used a noise reduction tool but had it turned up way too high. The sounds that were supposed to be removed by the cleanup process also eliminated some of the music that was supposed to exist. The quieter parts of the songs were faded out. Perfect example was the last song on side A by air supply. It was unbearable. Also, a lot of the high end was missing due to this noise reduction process they used. The louder the song got, the more "tinty" it was, meaning it was very unpleasant to the ears. Instead of a clean sharp sound, it was a muddy mid-range high that was unclean. Taking into the fact this is an 80's album, I played the older copy I had with the possibility of thinking it was due to the era it was recorded. The version I had was nice and clean. I don't know about the black vinyl version, but I would strongly advise, from my experience, to avoid purchasing the white vinyl. It was so bad, I couldn't stomach listening to the other side. I only listened to side A, with disgust. Shame on Sony for such a low quality effort in, what they call, remastering this release on the Arista label. It sounds like it was recorded on a boombox tape recorder, then replayed on a nice system.
