this mailbox was amazing and I loved the two ends that opened, so all I had to do was reach in and get my mail. the only thing that hindered my keeping it, was that it was quite large so it wouldn't fit where I had to put it! So, I gave it to my daughter and she loves it.
Excellent box. Heavy grade construction. I recommend it to anyone who needs a mailbox. The back door makes it safer to get the mail. I have heavy traffic to contend with. This box will definitely make getting a mail safer.
This double door mailbox is sturdy and a perfect size. It keeps us safe on a busy highway since we can pull up to the back door to get our mail. We have suggested it to others. We would buy it again.
Sturdy and easy to assemble
This is our second Gibraltar double door mailbox. The first one survived just over a year before the axle of a box trailer was ripped off in a head on collision and destroyed it. It's things like this that makes me refuse to walk out onto the Highway to get my mail. People drive like maniacs on it and having that second door makes us feel slightly safer. The inside is large, which helps with our packages not getting completely jammed inside. Our carries like to shove things in when they should bring them down our driveway…..The only improvement I would like to see is stronger magnets. With the first, every time they would deliver , the back door would fall open. Made for some wet mail. I went out and got rare earth magnets with holes in them and attached one to each door. Those magnets were still attached on the doors, even after one door was ripped off and tossed about 50 ft. Hopefully this mailbox will survive longer than the first, but if the time comes for another one, it will be a double door Gibraltar.
The Gibraltar double door mailbox is exactly what we needed. It is really well constructed. We built on a screened in porch and put the mailbox through the wall. We don't have to go outside to get our mail. We put it by the screen door so when we have to lift the red flag for out going mail we just open the screen door a little and flip up the flag. We give it a 5 star rating!
Bought for my brother so his wife didn't have to get into the roadway to collect mail. They like it
As I am on a walker, double door mailbox allows me to get the mail from the sidewalk instead of the street
back of box was bent and back door would not close properly or easily.
The two door mailbox works OK once I bent it into shape. The package it arrived in shows no sign of damage. Out of the box, the doors had alignment issues and would not open/shut right because of sheet metal deformation. The floor had an incomplete 90 down bend at the back door causing the door to not open completely. I bent it down enough for the back door to work OK, then reached through the box to punch the front door open. I had to "lean" on the box and reshape the opening to get front aligned so it would work. Front door still has a sharp bend at the hinge pin. My previous mailbox and post were crushed by a vehicle missing my driveway. If I didn't need a box, this mess would have been returned. I doubt most folks have the tools or inclination to reshape a sheet metal assembly.
