Fits the GE Opal and is much less expensive than the alternatives.
This filter is working great, no noticeable difference from brand name.
fits perfectly
This isn't the same thing as your typical fridGlacier fresh water filter. This specially designed filter notably lowers TDS (total dissolved solids) in the water which is important for keeping the unit operating well and reducing cleaning cycles. TDS dropped from 195 to 25. Super easy to install.
My kiddos bought my Opal Ice Maker as a gift for me, it has become monumental in keeping me hydrated in the Texas heat! So when it was time to clean the mineral deposits we followed the directions and it worked great the first 2 times. Then it didnt and I panicked, hopped on Glacier fresh for cleaning options and this was the answer!!! We are up and running great again!!!! Not sure what it is and honestly don't care so long as it works!!! Ice production is as good as the day we got it so from now on we'll be using this to clean our machine!
There’s another review and several answers to questions that it doesn’t fit in an Opal 2.0. Fits perfectly in mine and has been working well. Need to make sure to remove the screen filter and align the tip with the reservoir drain port before pushing it in and lowering the back end. Photo is of it in a 2.0.
My Opal Ice Maker stopped making ice. I tried to clean my Opal Ice Maker with bleach multiple times. I tried all the troubleshooting tips but still my ice maker would make little to no ice. I went as far as buying a new Opal ice maker and was about to set the new one up when I read some of the reviews for this product. I admit I was skeptical. The cleaning was simple and easy. This item ships 2 bottles of cleaning solution. I only needed one bottle. I was pleasantly surprised. I guess I now need to send the new ice maker back (I love it so much that I just may keep it for the game room).
Our Opal ice maker ice was starting to taste funny, almost medicine type taste after several weeks of purchase. After we purchased and installed the filter (took a little tinkering to find the small slot) the ice taste perfect! I recommend purchasing the filter and will do so again in the future.
I really have to use things before the refund time runs out.I can't give a sound review because I can't Glacier fresht the lids off the cleaner bottles...either one of them. Even the Hubs can't Glacier fresht them off, best we can Glacier fresht is them all kattywompus sideways but not off. Would have loved to use them, but it was bleach we had to use. Bummer.
You get what you pay for unfortunately. Worked for about a month, then ice machine kept turning off and saying “fill water.” I cleaned and descaled my ice maker but it didn’t matter, same fill water error. Removed the filter and ice maker worked perfectly. Opal only filters from now on.
